ClackerBuzz Posted May 14, 2012 Posted May 14, 2012 Whats your favorite craw that doesn't tear easily? A 2-3" craw for jig trailer or 4-5" craw /creature tube for punching. I'm tired of Netbait Paca tearing up so quickly. Anyone try Zoom Super Hogs? They seem to look thick/durable. I'm a fan of multiple appendages so it lasts even longer after loosing a few. Quote
Super User Hi Salenity Posted May 14, 2012 Super User Posted May 14, 2012 My favorite is the Rage Lobster. It holds up a lot better than the crawl and they consistently put more fish in the boat for me than other brands of baits. In fact the other day I was fishing a Zoom Hog in Green Pumpkin and was only catching dinks once it fell apart I replaced it with a Rage Hog in the same color and casted it in the same spot I had just casted the Zoom and caught a 5# on the following cast I got a 4# in the same spot.At the end of the day I was still using the same Hog and had caught Dozens of fish on it with this 4# the last fish of the day. I'd say I got my money out of this one. Quote
SoCalFisher Posted May 14, 2012 Posted May 14, 2012 I use the Netbait paca chunks for jig trailers but the claws seem to tear off very easily. Sometimes only after 1 fish. Quote
Jigs 4 Pigs Posted May 14, 2012 Posted May 14, 2012 Zoom Super Hogs are durable, they have less action compared to a Brush Hog, but sometimes that's the key. Quote
Jake P Posted May 14, 2012 Posted May 14, 2012 I would stop worrying about the life of the plastic your using. It is after all plastic. 1-3 fish is all i expect from any plastic lure, it is just something i expect so when it does become unfishable it doesnt bother me. If your looking for quality in design and action i would take a look at Rage Tail's line. The baby craws, craws and lobsters are awesome as jig trailers or thrown T rigged. The action is unmatched by any other IMO. They also have a few "creature" type baits. The rage hawg is great and so is the space monkey. Quote
Super User Crestliner2008 Posted May 14, 2012 Super User Posted May 14, 2012 X2 on the Paca Craws. Great trailers. Quote
Super User eyedabassman Posted May 15, 2012 Super User Posted May 15, 2012 Anther vote for the Netbait Paca line-up!!!! Quote
Packard Posted May 15, 2012 Posted May 15, 2012 Apparently some of you didn't read the whole post. He wants to switch from the paca craw because he doesn't like its durability. My vote goes for the Rage Craw/Chunk/Lobster. 1 Quote
ClackerBuzz Posted May 15, 2012 Author Posted May 15, 2012 i'm a big fan of zoom--price, durability, and color selection. can't afford strike king just yet. when i'm in heavy cover or the jig bite is good i might start switching to good ole' pork trailer. i picked these up on sale at wally world. looks like yum's version of a heavy flip/pitch creature. they are durable and a 4/0 hook fits perfect--nice action from the two long curl tails when swimming it. couldn't find them online. anyone seen them around? bassh8er Posted May 15, 2012 Posted May 15, 2012 I like the Paca craw for trailers, but if we're just talking a craw plastic, the Yum Crawbug is hands down my favorite. Quote

And when a claw does come off, keep fishing it!!!! Smallmouth love to tare a claw off and then eat the craw, so just help them out some!!! Quote
senko_77 Posted May 15, 2012 Posted May 15, 2012 The Bass Pro Shops Incredible Craw is a real fish catcher that doesn't get near the publicity they deserve. It's like $2.99 for a 20 pack and they catch the crap out of the fish. I caught my PB 14.7 on a watermelon/chart. claw Incredible Craw with a 1/0 Gamakatsu Wide Gap and a 1/16oz slip sinker. It's also perfect as a jig trailer, especially the finesse style jigs (thinner skirt). Try em out! 1 Quote
Quillback Posted May 15, 2012 Posted May 15, 2012 I don't have a problem with the Netbait Paca chunks as trailers, they seem to be reasonably durable to me. I used a Ragetail Baby craw for the first time last week, c-rigged it, and it held up well also. I think to get claws that flap easily they can't be molded with plastic that is thick and rigid which would give you durability. 1 Quote
zip pow Posted May 15, 2012 Posted May 15, 2012 Ive reformed thanks to Big O and his rage tail baits there all i use in chunks and regular craws buy some and you will not be disappointed . Quote
ClackerBuzz Posted May 16, 2012 Author Posted May 16, 2012 I might be cheap but i'm not stupid so i have some rage tails. picked up this girl on them today and she wasn't cheap or stupid..just hungry. most craws on the market have nice action. my problem with them is that the connection is so thin/weak. when is a company going to come along that makes the 1/8" body connection piece more thick and taper out to thin craws? WookieeJedi Posted May 16, 2012 Posted May 16, 2012 I love the Speed Craw, but it isn't as durable as the Rage Craw. Quote
The Guy Posted May 16, 2012 Posted May 16, 2012 maybe try zman Flappin CrawZ they are made from elaztech, I don't any personal experience with them though. Quote
river-rat Posted May 16, 2012 Posted May 16, 2012 When I wqant to use a craw worm for a jig trailer I use either a Gene Larew 4" Salt Craw or the Bitter's Bait and Tackle 4" Craw. I have found both to be very effective and quite durable. Quote
