jenga Posted May 13, 2012 Posted May 13, 2012 I have a motorguide pro series 70 pound thrust 24 volt trolling motor on my 93 19 foot skeeter and I need to buy two new batteries. I normally fish for about 8hrs. Does anyone know of a good deep cycle battery that will work for me. I don't want to spend much more then 120 per battery. Thanks, Jenga Quote
Diablos Posted May 13, 2012 Posted May 13, 2012 In the 6 years I've owned my boat, I've used Everstart(Walmart), Interstate and Diehard. The Diehard batteries were my most reliable at just over $100. I dropped down to a group 24 battery for my trolling motor and the Diehard preformed better them my group 27 Interstate. Quote
Triton21 Posted May 13, 2012 Posted May 13, 2012 Go to Walmart and get 2 batteries. They are guaranteed for 3 years prorated. Kelley Quote

Super User Jig Man Posted May 14, 2012 Super User Posted May 14, 2012 You had better check Wally before you buy. In most states they have a 1 year warranty and in some states no warranty at all. What ever brand you buy get at least a 27 series battery with 180 or more reserve amps (reserve capacity). That is the true measure of how long they will hold up in a day's use, Charge them up after each use and keep the water level up and you should get 4 or more years out of them. Quote
jerzeeD Posted May 15, 2012 Posted May 15, 2012 I am using an interstate group 29. I believe it has 210 reserve amps. I know it is one of the best rated group 29 lead acid battery in regards to the amps. I paid 95 dollars for it a little over a year ago. The group 27 wal-mart battery is rated at 140-145 reserve amps. The extra 60-70 amps were a godsend. I run a 45 lb thrust 12v motor and my fishfinder on the interstate for 8+ hr outings and have no issues now. Quote
