I fish 90% Plastics so I need to agree with RW, Rage Tail. The Space Monkey landed me some decent fish and the Rage Tail Craw although not new in 2009 but to me accounted for most of my fish. I am looking forward to using the Smoking Rooster next year. Unfortunately when this came available here in the Upper Midwest it was time to downsize so it did not produce. I am sure next spring it will account for some nice catches.

Welp, I don't want to break the cycle..so I would have to say the Rage Tail line is hands down the most inovative yet....plus they really catch fish... :D

The baits I have listed were new to me in 2009.

I have become a big fan of the Kietech Tungsten jigs, both the Arky style model  1 casting jig and the model 2 football jig. The tungsten head enhances feel when crawling & shaking the jig on the bottom, a downsized hook allows me to fish a smaller trailer which  makes for a very compact package.

The Koppers Live Target Crawfish Trap was a real nice producer this past spring, you won't find a more realistic crawfish profile on a lipless rattle bait.

The Bandit 700 series put some very nice fish in the boat for me this summer especially their Bluegill color, it has earned a place amongst my deep diving cranks.

I didn't get a chance to fish it a lot but when I did the Spro BronzeEye Poppin' Frog produced some memorable strikes, in terms of fun it was the most exciting newcomer this past season.

I haven't tried to many of the newer soft plastics due to the fact I have too much already and have put more emphsis on cranks & jigs, that said I was pleased throwning the 7" Rage Tail worms on a traditional Texas rig. I look forward to trying a couple of the newer models next season.

There will always be new baits added to our arsenal each year, some will produce while others will just fade away.

However, you may want to experiment with your current baits by either fishing them different; cutting them; adding to them; making them different so that the bass in your area have not seen or heard them before.

Experimenting with crankbaits can be fun, especially the Chugbug, where you can drill and remove the small ball bearings to give the bait a different look and sound.

Experimenting with baits can be either frustrating or fun. Just make sure your baits are "new" to your area and that the bass have not seen or heard it before.

Good luck.  :D

Molix cursor mini is my personal surprise for the 2009.

Very unusual and innovative lure! Soft palastic lipples with willow blade!

I caught a lot of fish this year expecially with the smallest version.

My vote is for the Grandebass Rattlesnake. I only fished these baits a little towards the end of the season in 09 because I just found out about them. They were excellent for the time I fished them probably the most impressive new bait I have tried for years. I have done a lot of research on these and other fisherman are doing very well and have excellent things to say about these baits. probably one of the best kept secrets in bassin today. That is why I started a topic about them, I wanted to hear what you all had to say about them. I urge you try these if you can find them.
