Get a big cooler and a battery operated pump to keep the water moving. Easiest and cheapest livewell you're going to find for a small boat. Shop around and find one that fits in your boat well and get a good pump for it. The nice thing is they're insulated so you can add ice to the water during the hot months and keep the water cool to help keep the fish alive. I'd also suggest getting a bilge pump so you can use it to fill the cooler and switch the water out once and awhile throughotu the day.

Look at Cabelas catalog for livewell cooler conversion kits.

You're going to fish tournaments in a 12' boat? And you're going to put a big cooler in the boat and fill it up with water? How much will that weigh? Are you fishing by yourself? What is the chance that this big cooler full of water will throw off the weight balance in your boat? I'm thinking that the odds of this are pretty good. Please be careful in this endeavor, don't tip your boat over, don't fall out. Get a good life jacket and wear it all the time.

Even small club tournaments, I think trying to fish tournaments out of a 12'boat is asking for it. Just my thoughts.

You should fish the Tournaments as a Non-Boater instead of trying to "make" this 12' thing work for you.

Nothing wrong with doing tourneys out of a 12' boat, be safe wear your jacket and be smart while you travel, plan out your areas.

Plenty of pros have started out like this and plenty of people still fish out of 12' boats.
