Bassmaster425 Posted May 11, 2012 Posted May 11, 2012 I am going to start doing tourneys and I need to have a live well I have a 12ft alluminum boat so if you guys could give me links for livewells that are not to spendy I don't have too much money! Thanks!!nlet me know Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted May 11, 2012 Global Moderator Posted May 11, 2012 Get a big cooler and a battery operated pump to keep the water moving. Easiest and cheapest livewell you're going to find for a small boat. Shop around and find one that fits in your boat well and get a good pump for it. The nice thing is they're insulated so you can add ice to the water during the hot months and keep the water cool to help keep the fish alive. I'd also suggest getting a bilge pump so you can use it to fill the cooler and switch the water out once and awhile throughotu the day. Quote
Bassmaster425 Posted May 12, 2012 Author Posted May 12, 2012 Ok do you think you could send me a link to like a bilge pump and water pump.. The cheapest one and I will get that.. Quote
Super User WRB Posted May 12, 2012 Super User Posted May 12, 2012 Look at Cabelas catalog for livewell cooler conversion kits. Tom Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted May 12, 2012 Global Moderator Posted May 12, 2012 This would be a good aerator for the cooler you get. http://www.cabelas.com/product/Boating/Livewells-Bilge-Pumps-Hatches/Livewells-Aerators|/pc/104794380/c/104743980/sc/104434380/Super-Fish-Saver-Kit/699706.uts?destination=%2Fcatalog%2Fbrowse%2Fboating-livewells-bilge-pumps-hatches-livewells-aerators%2F_%2FN-1100640%2FNs-CATEGORY_SEQ_104434380%3FWTz_l%3DSBC%253BMMcat104794380%253Bcat104743980&WTz_l=SBC%3BMMcat104794380%3Bcat104743980%3Bcat104434380 Then just get a cheap bilge pump or a bucket I guess if the cooler is big enough so you can change the water out once in awhile so the fish have fresh water. Bassmaster425 Posted May 12, 2012 Author Posted May 12, 2012 So would I just buy this and then put it on a big cooler and it will work?? Quote
Super User Fishes in trees Posted May 12, 2012 Super User Posted May 12, 2012 You're going to fish tournaments in a 12' boat? And you're going to put a big cooler in the boat and fill it up with water? How much will that weigh? Are you fishing by yourself? What is the chance that this big cooler full of water will throw off the weight balance in your boat? I'm thinking that the odds of this are pretty good. Please be careful in this endeavor, don't tip your boat over, don't fall out. Get a good life jacket and wear it all the time. Even small club tournaments, I think trying to fish tournaments out of a 12'boat is asking for it. Just my thoughts. Quote
Bassmaster425 Posted May 12, 2012 Author Posted May 12, 2012 Yeah good point... But I still think it will work I kind of have layer out how it's going to work.. But thanks for your thoughts good luck out there!! Quote
Mumpy Posted May 14, 2012 Posted May 14, 2012 You should fish the Tournaments as a Non-Boater instead of trying to "make" this 12' thing work for you. Quote
Shawn Dompierre Posted May 22, 2012 Posted May 22, 2012 Nothing wrong with doing tourneys out of a 12' boat, be safe wear your jacket and be smart while you travel, plan out your areas. Plenty of pros have started out like this and plenty of people still fish out of 12' boats. Quote
