ChiCityBasser Posted May 11, 2012 Posted May 11, 2012 Good Luck and rain gear if it's a slight chance of a weather change and also snacks and water or something to drink. Glasses, sunblock if needed and some outerwear for the early morning. My first BFL is this weekend also and getting my things together as well and Good Luck Quote
ChiCityBasser Posted May 13, 2012 Posted May 13, 2012 Thanks, good luck to you as well. How did you do? Myself I caught three but they were all around 12-13" so for my first tourney is was a good outing and my boater was great in everyway for a first event. Next time I plan to put some over 14" in the boat Quote
Super User Sam Posted May 14, 2012 Super User Posted May 14, 2012 1. Extra reels. One or two of each type, spooled and ready to switch out if you get a bad backlash or line problems with your spinning rig. Just switch out the reels if there is a problem. 2. Food and snacks plus drinks. 3. A smile! 4. A positive attitude and have fun. 5. Organize your tackle and try to bring less as space on a bass boat for a nonboater is tight. 6. If you are taking your boat, check it out in detail. Start the motor to make sure it runs OK before you leave home. Make sure the kill switch is off. Check the trolling motor. Make sure batteries are fully charged. Check all fuel and oil lines to make sure there are no leaks. Check trailer tire pressure and the trailer itself for cracks in the metal. 7. Baseball cap; sunglasses; rain gear; watch; needle nose pliers; 8. The most important thing you need to bring with you is a game plan. What are you going to throw and when? If you are a nonboater will the boater work with you to throw what he thinks will work and you throw what you think will work to cover more water with more baits and techniques. Good luck. 1 Quote

Next time I plan to put some over 14" in the boat I caught 2 keepers that weighed 3-11 and i took 85th place which i was happy with for my tournament. I drew a really good boater and it was a great first tournament. Excited for the next one on June 16th. Quote
