outdoorsman110 Posted May 8, 2012 Posted May 8, 2012 Alright let's see, the best thing that's happened to me would have to be.. Some rich guy giving me a loaded tackle box of Lucky Craft Crankbaits after helping him get his beached nitro boat back in the water. It happened to be a day before hurricane Irene and I was out on my kayak, the guy's motor cut out and he basically crashed into an island's sandy shore. I helped him push it out, took 2 hours. Well worth it! What's your best experience?! Quote

flippin and pitchin Posted May 8, 2012 Posted May 8, 2012 I was winter steelheading a few years ago and a kid about ten or so was with his dad and it was cold, real cold. I hooked a nice chromer about 14 pounds on a spinner and handed my rod to the kid. It was like magic to see that boy's face. He landed it with a tiny bit of help. That was cool. I got paid by that kid with the best there is to give......simple gratitude and a child's smile. Quote

Sounds like my son Noah hes gonna be 3 on the 21st of may so 2 weeks and he is always saying "got one" reeling it in no mater how much I tell him to watch his bobber soon as it touches the water and i hand him his rod its "oh oh got one got one daddy got one" reels it in and sees no fish followed by " where did it go cast again daddy I got one" I swear I cast more with his little sponge bob pole in an outing then KVD fires out in a tournament lol Quote
kylek Posted May 10, 2012 Posted May 10, 2012 My best moments while fishing... That is an easy one for me. Watching my 3 oldest catch their first fish from grandpa's pond!!! It was a little crazy taking 3 at a time but it will be something I will remember for the rest of my life, and I hope they do too. Kyle Quote
wisconsin heat Posted May 10, 2012 Posted May 10, 2012 besides just plain catching fish and having a blast, i found a handful of old junky lures on a cold day when i got skunked. I dont plan on using them, but it brightened up my day. Also, another day i got skunked I found an older panfish rig. Which i still use . OH! and recently I've been teaching my dad how to use a baitcaster. He never thought he'd get it, but he liked it after a couple days. Quote
Hyrule Bass Posted May 10, 2012 Posted May 10, 2012 i have to say, one of the most satisfying things is helping kids catch fish, even if it keeps me from seriously fishing. i got two little nieces that just love to fish, they're like 3 and 6 i think. the oldest always gets mad at me saying i catch all the big fish so she cant catch any. so sometimes if i hook a bass i will let her fight it and reel it in, same with a catfish. just the smile on her face when she reels up that "big" bass or "big" catfish is priceless. the youngest is just happy dropping her night crawler off the side of the dock and feeding and sometimes catching the bluegill that are hanging around... aclark609 Posted May 13, 2012 Posted May 13, 2012 I generally like to fish alone, but going out with the people I love and seeing them hook a big one is always great. . . . . . they say I get more excited than they do. lol Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted May 13, 2012 Global Moderator Posted May 13, 2012 Taught a fishing class for kids a few years ago at a local lake. Almost every kid there that day was fishing for the first time in their lives and everyone of them caught a fish that day but the highlight was a little girl that decided to fish a wacky worm because she thought the name was funny Her second casts she says "I'm snagged," not an unusual thing to hear while teaching kids to fish but as I started walking down the dock I noticed the "snag" was moving towards deeper water. I told her to reel and when she did that little Zebco 33 was whining. Once she started reeling a good bass tailwalked towards the dock and dove into the coontail. The dock was too high to reach it but I was in shorts and flipflops so I dropped what I had in my pockets on the dock and hopped in. I followed the line down and grabbed onto what turned out to be a 4.5lb bass. The little girl got her picture in the local paper and her parents sent me a big thank you card telling me about how that was all their daughter could talk about was how she caught a huge fish and she couldn't wait to go again. It was really a cool feeling to introduce someone into this great sport like that Quote
wakeeater Posted May 13, 2012 Posted May 13, 2012 a couple of years ago my family & i went to destin for vacation. later in the week some friends joined us. my buddy & i took my 2 boys and his stepson on a "six pack" offshore fishing trip. the captain & first mate put us on some awesome spots. the boys were reeling them in so quick that i quit fishing & became the first mate's assistant. he goes "man, aren't u gonna fish?" i said "let's keep these boys going, i'm having the time of my life!" we caught a bunch of fish. they clean some right there & threw it on the george foreman. it doesn't get any fresher than that! we took a picture at the dock with our catch. i've got it on my desk right now. it was an awesome day! 2 days later on that same trip we were at one of the pools in sandestin. there was a pond right beside it. the family was swimming & i decided to fish. i caught my personal best...a 12lb largemouth. i freaked out & my boys went crazy. it was my best vacation so far. 1 Quote

B@ssCrzy Posted May 15, 2012 Posted May 15, 2012 This spring I took my 3 year old son fishing to our local pond. We hit it at the right time and over 1.5 hours we had landed about 7-8 bass, with two of them weighing 3-4. I would hook them and he would reel them in. He was all smiles from ear to ear!! My favorite comment of the night after landing 6-7 was..."Dad you are the best fisherman ever!!" I guess from now on I just have to make sure he does not find out about bassresource.com. Other memorable times have been when I go fishing with my wife and she out fishes me. Great times. Quote
Jigs 4 Pigs Posted May 17, 2012 Posted May 17, 2012 Best thing was just fishing in general with my grandfather when I was a kid on Bull Shoals in Arkansas before he passed away. Quote
