bassmanET Posted May 7, 2012 Posted May 7, 2012 Have a minkota 30lb for my crawdad. It seems to have lost some of it power since I bought the boat 3 years ago. Any thoughts on what it could be? Battery or Motor? Took off the prop & cleaned it out, battery is maybe 4 years old? Thanks for nay help! Quote
Super User J Francho Posted May 7, 2012 Super User Posted May 7, 2012 Maybe it's time to replace the battery. Quote
Super User Munkin Posted May 7, 2012 Super User Posted May 7, 2012 It maybe several things but I would start by cleaning all the contacts first. This should help but the battery is most likely getting weak. Allen Quote
Super User Fishing Rhino Posted May 7, 2012 Super User Posted May 7, 2012 Fully charge your battery, and then have it tested. If you have an Interstate dealer in your area they will put a load test on it at no cost to you. Some of the auto parts stores like NAPA, Auto Zone, Auto Palace etc., will probably test it as well. Check with them first. Quote
outdoorsman110 Posted May 15, 2012 Posted May 15, 2012 Hit it, that's what works with my Husqvarna. Lol. Quote
bassmanET Posted September 12, 2012 Author Posted September 12, 2012 So, finally got a new battery. But, still low on power? Anything else I could check on trolling motor before I go out & buy a new one? Quote
Super User Jig Man Posted September 12, 2012 Super User Posted September 12, 2012 If you have a repair shop they should be able to fix it way cheaper than a new one. It may just need new brushes. Quote
NBR Posted September 14, 2012 Posted September 14, 2012 Did you use emery paper on all the connections and get them bright and shiny? Quote
