Any pointers on bass night fishing?

Bring a flashlight, and pretend it is daytime. The only difference for night fishing is I use more topwater lures at night, but not all the time. Watch for gators if you got 'em.

Ya Ive done some night fishin but most all mine has been at daytime. I wana start doin more night fishin. Should I focus mainly on one spot the whole night or move around? I know to use darker colors. What else?

Snake proof boots, a black colorado blade spinner bait nickel plated, and top water baits:pop-r,spook,and a buzzbait....the bigger the baits the bigger the results.

Night time bass fishing offers the best chance at giant bass and it beats sweating through the hot summer days. As a kid I always used a black buzz bait and caught my top 8 bass at night useing it. Patt Cullen of Georgia has caught over one thousand ten pound bass and also subscribes to the black buzzbait for night fishing. I usually avoid the biggest moons. Another nice bonus about night fishing is that you rarely have much boat traffic on the water. Make me want to go fishing tonight.

Fish clear water lakes, mostly the same places I would fish during the day. 1/4 or 3/8 black spinner bait gold colorado blade, 3/4 black buzz bait worked slow as you can. Dark colored Rage Tail craw 3/16 pegged weight has worked well this year for me also. I have always fished the 3 nights befor a full moon, cloudy light rainy nights have always been my best producers. clear cloudless nights with flat water have always been difficult for me also. I feel blacklights are a must, no bright light. Have everything in the boat in order and placed so you dont have any trips or falls. I start night fishing when the water temps hold the 50 degree mark at night, air temps what ever you can handle. My PB an 8 pound even came in April this year on a 1/4 ounce spinner bait, the low that night was 43 degrees, water temp was 57 degrees. Have fun be safe, keep the life vest handy. These things work for me. It can be real addicting.

I agree with what Hank Parker said on his night fishing show a few seasons ago. As he got older and his eyes changed he went strictly with spinning reels because his depth perception changed. I've found that the most helpful advise on night fishing since I started wearing glasses.

I don't think it has as much to do with depth perception. It has to do with being able to see at night. If you can't see the lure, it's impossible to tell when to stop the spool on a B.C. reel. With a spinning reel it does not matter. 9 times out of 10 when night fishing, I'm using a spinner. If there is decent light I can use a B.C. but a spinner is just easier and more fun for me.

I fish the spots that seem to have most numbers of fish during the day time with something topwater, usually a horny toad. I give it quick jerks with the rod tip to make the legs kick a little louder/faster every 5-10 yards to just give them something a little different

I like to use big black and blue spinnerbait and 10" worm and black and blue jig I use a little topwater but I say 80% of time I'm throwing a spinnerbait!

Dark colored jig, worm, spinnerbait, or chatterbait. I'm really starting to like a chatterbait at night alot. The good strong vibration helps them hone in on it and it gives a good profile for them to see.

I like fishing with a bottom contact like with a 1/8 shaky head on a spinning outfit or jigs, usually dark (black/blue or red/black) with a rattle and trailer to match it.

Noise and vibration is often a plus at night. Buzzbait on the surface but if there is a lot of grass, Rage Shad. Big dark colored Spinnerbait, colorado blade. Big Curl tail worm that can provide plenty of side to side movement with minimal forward pull. Jigw rattle and a bulky action packed trailer.

A big, dark colored jig or worm are my favorites. I will usually use a bit more weight at night to maintain good contact with my bait. Sometimes strikes can be violent, other times very subtle. Night fishing requires attention to detail and focus. It can be frustrating at times, but catch one good fish at night and you are probably hooked. Have one of those nights when the action is fast, and you may become nocturnal. If a big fish thrashing around on the surface while you fight it doesn't get you excited, you need to see a medical professional.
