Jake P Posted May 6, 2012 Posted May 6, 2012 What do you prefer? I drink Evan Williams just about excluseivley when it comes to bourbon. I know its not top shelf but i love it. Just had a drink and sneezed when it was half way down causing part of it to go out of my nose. My nose is still burning and my eyes are watering like no other! 1 Quote
North Ga Hillbilly Posted May 6, 2012 Posted May 6, 2012 my cheap-o bourbon is Old Crow, not as sweet as Evan, and cheaper than bottled pee. Tho its not technically a bourbon, I'm a big fan of Stranahans. It's pricey, but it's got a totally distinct flavor. NGaHB 1 Quote
tmier Posted May 6, 2012 Posted May 6, 2012 Jim Beam. Straight up or mixed with diet Dr Pepper. Quote
Super User Raider Nation Fisher Posted May 6, 2012 Super User Posted May 6, 2012 Jim Beam or Rebel Yell. Quote
Super User whitwolf Posted May 6, 2012 Super User Posted May 6, 2012 Ezra Brooks or for football tailgates I'll have some Knob Creek. Quote
Super User Chris at Tech Posted May 6, 2012 Super User Posted May 6, 2012 Too much Jim Beam during college is bringing back bad memories. These days I'll reach for Knob Creek or Basil Hayden's. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted May 6, 2012 Super User Posted May 6, 2012 Knob Creek is nice. I received a bottle of Pappy Van Winkles as a gift a couple of years ago. When I win the lottery this is all I will drink! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pappy_Van_Winkle's_Family_Reserve Quote
VolFan Posted May 6, 2012 Posted May 6, 2012 That Pappy is good stuff. I like Makers Mark for general usage, or will step it up to Rip or straight Van Winkle if I'm feeling more cultured...I also like JD and a few differnt ryes for some roughage. Quote
Traveler2586 Posted May 6, 2012 Posted May 6, 2012 I'll go for some JD or his cousin JB. Also enjoy Knob Creek and some others I can't think of at the moment. I've also been enjoying the Honey Bourbons lately. All straight up with two cherries which I save for last. Quote
HLNichols Posted May 6, 2012 Posted May 6, 2012 I'll stick to my Kool-Aid. It's extremely difficult to become intoxicated from the fruity, homogenous mixture. Quote
Super User Redlinerobert Posted May 7, 2012 Super User Posted May 7, 2012 I don't drink bourbon too much, but Pappy Van Winkle is usually what I stock in my home bar. 20 and the 23 year, however I prefer the 20. Recently I tried Hirsch 28 year old at a high end steak joint, and was also impressed by that. I have 2 bottles on the way. Quote
Sfritr Posted May 7, 2012 Posted May 7, 2012 Ahh, one of my favorite topics other than fishing. Goto drink: Blantons (oldest distillery in Ky, also makers of Buffalo trace) hints of vanilla and caramel Henry MCKenna: only bourbon whos barrels are bonded by the US Government. very smooth, not too oakey Pappy Van Winkle 20: one of the best bourbons I have ever tried. NOT CHEAP but very good After 20 years in the bar business I have had almost all of them but these are my favorites Quote

Super User MCS Posted May 18, 2012 Super User Posted May 18, 2012 Evan Williams 90% of the time, Jim Beam, Makers or Wild Turkey the rest. Quote
grampa1114 Posted May 21, 2012 Posted May 21, 2012 If I have to........Evan Williams, supporting the folks who support my sport. The rest of the time, Rotgut Vodka for Martinis, Rye Whiskey for Highballs and an occasional flavored brandy. Quote
