hbird Posted May 6, 2012 Posted May 6, 2012 Well im a zoom fanatic so picked a pack of these up recently in the junebug color, which ive had good succes on in this color. How do you fish the Z-Hog? I can flip it/ pitch it pretty well. Should I run it with a weight? Without one? Its pretty heavy. I think i could even run it as a trailer on a jig. Any of you fish it? Tips/Tricks are welcome. It truly looks like a bait that will catch me a big fish! Quote
msolorio Posted May 6, 2012 Posted May 6, 2012 i use em a lot and love em. ive always used them with a sinker be it t rigged, c rigged, or on a shakey head. theres really no limit and the key is to think outside the box. try em weightless, who knows, the fish might annihalate em cus its somethin they havent seen. theyre great as a jig trailer when you want more of a subtle action. these baits are really second to none. HLNichols Posted May 6, 2012 Posted May 6, 2012 In my opinion, they work well if you run them by bass beds, or spawning zones. They look like something that would raid a nest or a bed: a threat. Mama Bass don't like threats. Mama Bass eats threat. Quote
Gangley Posted May 7, 2012 Posted May 7, 2012 Flip it and pitch it. Its also good hopped along the bottom. If there are areas of matted vegetation on the top of the water, I will bring it across those matts of vegetation and let it fall off into the holes in the vegetation. Most of my nicer fish on that lure have come from that last method. good luck Quote
rbreedi1 Posted May 7, 2012 Posted May 7, 2012 So far Ive fished them texas rigged with a 3/16 oz. slip weight and had pretty good success. Quote
Skeet22 Posted May 7, 2012 Posted May 7, 2012 It's become my favorite bait to punch mats and trash. It holds a heavy flipping hook better than any other bait I have ever used. Quote
