Super User clayton86 Posted May 5, 2012 Super User Posted May 5, 2012 Me busting my arse everyday for the past few months finally paid off this morning. As some of you know i was struggling with the run on my pt test for the army i started this deployment running a sickening 23 minute 2 mile which is just disgusting. Started off with knee and foot pain like you wouldn't believe. I continued to take every pt test that came up sense each time cutting what i missed my run by in half. my times went from 23 almost 24 to 18 then 17 then i missed the run by 12 seconds 5 days ago. 12 lousy seconds I was ticked I was dropping f bombs throwing stuff I was ticked cuz I killed my self on the run but this was also my first time running out side in Kuwait in 95* weather in a sand storm everyone failed the run even guys who normally max it that storm was brutal. Well I took it again this morning on a calm morning slight breeze once out on the pier. That was another thing that helped idk why but running down the pier and back was a big motivator rather then 8.5 laps around a track. I ran my 2 mile today in 15:03 not great I know but from where I started that's a huge improvement. Iv been running almost every day my run routine is 2 miles pt pace one day next day is 2 mile intervals (30/60s, 60/120s) then a 5k rest day then repeat plus my gym work outs lifting weights and biking an hour on off days getting about 25mi in an hour with a 5 minute cool down. Iv also lost near 40 lbs iv gone from 207 to 170. Im gonna modify my run routine a little bit now I think im gonna do the same stuff just break it up to like Monday Wednesday Friday do the runs. Iv never been and never will be a runner and now that i got my passing score and my paper work is already in for my promotion I can focus on lifting and not as much running just doing it to keep it in check so I don't have to worry bout failing again. Super User NorcalBassin Posted May 5, 2012 Super User Posted May 5, 2012 Congratulations! Thanks for taking us along on your journey and for your service to our country. Losing 37 lbs has to feel like an awesome "side effect" while getting that running time down. Quote
Super User clayton86 Posted May 5, 2012 Author Super User Posted May 5, 2012 yeah 37 lbs does feel great before I got married I was 135 well 135 met my wife dating her shot to 150-160 then got married and she got prego and i shot up to 210 where iv stayed for the last 3 or 4 years. and thank you for helping me figure out what to do bout my knee and foot problems much appreciated the knee still aches a little but not like it did Quote
Super User Bassn Blvd Posted May 5, 2012 Super User Posted May 5, 2012 Congrats for the accomplishments. As you said, your time may not be great (FAR better than what I can do) but it is a SUPER improvement from when ur fat ars (haha) first started out. Don't lay off the cardio though. MOST fights are lost within the first 30 seconds, and it's not because the other guy was all muscle. Cardio plays a significant role in fighting as well as in good health (like I'm one to talk, haha) Let me ask you a question and I'm not trying to be a smart ars about it either, just curious. How much of your present condition can you attribute towards all those different supp's you were taking? In other words, do you think (honestly) that you would be where you're at today without many or all of them? Quote

Iv been off the jack3d for about a week now I ran out and haven't ordered more. All im taking now is my vitamins and omega 3 fish oil plus a protein shake and dieting dieting dieting oh and more dieting. I have notcied my drive to lift has decreased like half way threw a work out id get a rush or buzz and stat throwing around more weight and now im just kinda blah and wanting it to be over and not really pushing my self like I was. Im probably gonna start a new pre work out drink just not jack3d. Plus the BCAAs and other things found in the shakes and drinks help with fat loss plus the dieting I feel its helped im doing the same work outs I did in college with way more and faster results and im older by 8years Quote
Super User Bassn Blvd Posted May 5, 2012 Super User Posted May 5, 2012 Cool. A couple of my friends take that Jack stuff. I think they said it does nothing as far as "growth," just a heck of amount of energy to push through a more intense workout. Quote
Super User Sam Posted May 6, 2012 Super User Posted May 6, 2012 Congrats. You are an inspiration to all of us who need to lose some weight. Keep up the good work! Quote
Super User whitwolf Posted May 6, 2012 Super User Posted May 6, 2012 Congrats! As for the 15:03, that's not bad at all. If I had to run two miles I doubt I could run the entire two and regardless the last half-mile I would look like a rolling batting cage with a flat tire. lol Quote
outdoorsman110 Posted May 7, 2012 Posted May 7, 2012 Jez, you weigh less than me, I'm 183lbs. 5'11" and I'm a hockey goalie. Quote
