Jdmfishing Posted May 3, 2012 Posted May 3, 2012 I have a Quantum accurist 101 pt, and my star drag is tighten fully, but I can still pull line out of the baitcaster. is there a way of fixing this? Quote
0119 Posted May 4, 2012 Posted May 4, 2012 It could be that the drag washers got contaminated with oil. Could be other trouble too though. When the reel isnt in use, do you make sure you loosen the drag completely? Quote
pntballty Posted May 4, 2012 Posted May 4, 2012 Just spool it with braid by chance? If so did you use any backing? Quote
Delaware Valley Tackle Posted May 4, 2012 Posted May 4, 2012 Likely braid slipping. Watch the spool rim as you peel off line. If the spool is not turning, the braid is slipping. Not loosening the drag between trips will not cause sudden failure. If you've had the reel apart, something may be mis-assembled. Quote
Jdmfishing Posted May 4, 2012 Author Posted May 4, 2012 Yes i have braid on the reel, and i've never taken the baitcaster apart. Im guessing it might be braid slipping because it never happened when i had flurocarbon line on. Quote
Michael DiNardo Posted May 5, 2012 Posted May 5, 2012 Take the braid off the spool, DO NOT THROW AWAY. PUT 20-30 yds of mono backing on spool (similiar line diameter). Tie the braid directly to the mono and spool up. Mike Quote
logan9209 Posted May 30, 2012 Posted May 30, 2012 See this is one of the reasons this website is so important and also why I badly wish there were people here where I live that I can learn from. I never knew that you needed to back the drag off when b/c isn't in use. Mine just stopped reeling today. I've taken it apart 3 times trying to figure it out. Grant it, the rod and reel was bought at a pawn shop 5 months ago for $20, but I expected it to last a little longer. Quote
