So, yesterday was a rainy day here in S Fl, so my wife and I decided to do a little outing. Since I have the FF Tourney in Holiday Park next Wed, I decided we should head down to BPS so I can pick up a few things. While walking around the fishing section, I happened upon the new Shimano Sellus rods. Thats when I realized how good that would look with a Chronarch mounted on it. So, as I turn to my wife and say, "30th Birthday present", she looks at me as if I was kidding, but Im not. She took out her phone and took notes down, so thats good right? Does anyone have any experience with these rods, I know there are fairly new, but for the price, I dont want to put a great reel on a garbage rod. I think a Chronarch and that rods would go good to complete my Shimano arsenal.

They are what they are, the top of the line $60 rod. I like mine a lot but it could use better guides or at least better guide placement. If you flex the rod hard the line will actually go under the blank. But all and all that's my main gripe.

I don't know if it matters to you, but I think they are below the price point at which the Shimano lifetime warranty would be in effect.

At that price who cares. If it lasts 3 years I would be happy. I dont know how long they have been around. I havent seen them on BPS online, just in my local store.

From handling them in the store, they seem like nice rods for the $$, I would buy one.

believe BPS is pushing this rod for some reason, everytime i got to mine they have like 2 stands, in front of reel counter and last time i went i wanted a very cheap sinnerbait rod, the actually recommended this over there brand rods, WOW, well at least mine, they always recomend there brand

I had the crank rod but returned for the bps one. They do match the chronarch perfectly but the balance is off from what I hear. Some people love them but Ive also seen some reviews with issues on tw. 1yr warranty if you wondered.

Comments: Bought 2 rods, not impressed at all! The peice of the Handel that screws to seat the reel Broke on both rods today my second time to use them! Bring them back tomorrow for the money think shimano should put out a better product!!

Comments: well i just bvought this rod a month ago and im not very impressed. The tip ring broke and i had to replace the tip after fishing with it one time so that was a pain. I went to Bass Pro shops and i replaced my tip and i decided to take it out today and try it out. well after two casts the rod litterally snapped three guides down from the tip. This really upset me because Im only 15 years old and dont have tons of money. Ive always been very careful with my equipment and no rod should snap by merely casting it.

A 15 yr old's definition of "very careful" is probably different than mine. Broken rings and blanks are signs of mishandling 99% of the time. Balance is subjective depending on the technique used how the rod is gripped. It boils down to personal preference.

Im going to Bass Pro to get one today. I will have to give a review on it after the tourney Wednesday.

there was more but my mobile browser wouldn't allow me to scroll farther down.

I agree with you on that

@large, I'm sure it will be fine.

Mounted. Took out for a few casts, caught 1 bass about 3 lbs. This rod feels good.
