Super User Sam Posted April 30, 2012 Super User Posted April 30, 2012 Hate to say it, but as a bass fisherman who has to put up with these types of jokers once school is out and the summer is upon us, I do not feel their pain. If I was on the water and saw that type of incident I would be on the bottom of the boat laughing my fanny off. Could not happen to a better bunch of dummies. Quote
Super User clayton86 Posted April 30, 2012 Author Super User Posted April 30, 2012 I would be one of them dummies I'd find a spot with no fisherman though. growing up we did our tubing and jet skiing shenanigans at my best friends cottage no one ever fished there besides us and I don't think we ever caught anything it was just us out on "our" boat we bought at age 12 and fixed up cast a spoon out and drove around calling trolling drinking his dads beer and cigars we stole. We had miles of lake ontario to our selves. We did something like the above picture on a snow mobile once...............it was fun.........ended bad...........inflatable raft + saucer sleds + fast snow mobile + dumb teenage boys = epic fail lol Quote

I'm sure there's plenty of these "jokers" who complain about having to put up with the fishermen out there too. Some people like water powersports, others like fishing. There's even a few of us out there who like both. As long as everyone is respectful of each other, there's no reason we can't all share the water while enjoying it in our own way. I realize that not everyone is respectful of others on the water at all times, but fisherman can be just as guilty of that as the pleasureboat/jetski/waterski/tubing crowds. Quote

Super User Sam Posted May 1, 2012 Super User Posted May 1, 2012 We never bother the skiiers or tubers. We fish along the shore or off a little out of everyone's way. It is their boat's wake that can be a problem. I have had one large boat that was pulling a skiier on the Rappahannock River do a circle where I was fishing. I finally had to move. I met a man and his young son on the water and they said the boat did the same to them so they had to move. A few years back a jet skiier kept making wave after wave towards one of the guys in my bass fishing club. They ignored him until all went silent. When they turned around to see what had happened the guy was holding onto the jef ski for dear life. He had flipped the machine. So the guys trolled over to him; pulled him in the bass boat; and towed his jet ski to his parent's house. He told them that he was home from college and was waiting for the rest of the family to join him that evening. He was one lucky guy that the guys in my club could have just turned their back but that is illegal in Virginia as you have to help a stranded watercraft. So my score is Bass Fishermen 1 Jet Skiiers 0 Quote
