Super User BrianinMD Posted April 30, 2012 Super User Posted April 30, 2012 Tried a search but coming up with no good results. My question is, what is everyone's favorite grass jigs. Want to add these into my arsenal but not sure which ones to get. Quote
Super User clayton86 Posted April 30, 2012 Super User Posted April 30, 2012 http://www.***.com/All_Terrain_Tackle_Grassmaster_Jig/descpage-ATTGJ.html Them! Iv probably got 50 of them I love them there one of my favorite jigs the line tie is recessed and it doubles as a great swim jig. Quote
Super User 00 mod Posted April 30, 2012 Super User Posted April 30, 2012 http://www.siebertoutdoors.com/index.php/big-o-jig These in the brush series! Awesome jigs and a site sponsor! Jeff Quote
Super User eyedabassman Posted April 30, 2012 Super User Posted April 30, 2012 Northstar would get my vote! Quote
Super User clayton86 Posted April 30, 2012 Super User Posted April 30, 2012 I still like the recessed line tie on the all terrain I have some of the others mentioned and I actually notice a difference of my knot and tag end getting hung up with grass and crap. Quote
craww Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 Grass stalker by seizmic(sp)/uncle josh. These and the spot stalker were designed in part by the same guy who designed the bull shad swimbait. The only jig Ive found to actually go through algae pretty darn good. Vertical line tie is the deal on grass jigs. The head is designed to kick the trailer up more also. Quote
Dylanl Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 All Terrain Grassmaster is my favorite to. I'm gonna try some of the NorthStar jigs when they're back to shipping orders though because they have quite the following. Quote

KSRonH Posted May 2, 2012 Posted May 2, 2012 I'd have to say the All Terrain also but I haven't used many others. I like the unique head shape and the recessed line tie. They've been working for me with a Kalins or Rage Tail grub. Quote
craww Posted May 2, 2012 Posted May 2, 2012 Like the others said: All Terrain Grass jig Bass Stalker / Uncle Josh- Grass Stalker I've used both of them alot. The AT does okay penetrating THROUGH grass, but The UJ/BS can actually be cast and worked through the junk much, much better. In addition to going through veggies, the UJ/BS does quite well in wood. It's a really versatle jig. I throw these with a strike king perfect skirt in bluegill (tails trimmed) and a watermelon rage craw more than any other lure. These are the some of the best jigs that nobody throws. Quote
Super User Deleted account Posted May 2, 2012 Super User Posted May 2, 2012 My favorite grass jig is a T-rig... 1 Quote
bassfanpa Posted May 2, 2012 Posted May 2, 2012 Craww...the stalker jigs sold by Uncle Josh were designed by Perry Haas. The Bull Shad swimbaits were designed by Mike Bucca. Both designers make great baits though. Quote
craww Posted May 2, 2012 Posted May 2, 2012 I'm aware of that. Triton mike was credited in article 4-5 years back with helping to design them, by the uncle josh rep. I honestly don't know his full role. Perry Haas does seem to me the main brain behind all of the "stalker" jigs. Quote

I throw the AT threw wood, grass, pads, brush, even rock piles though rock piles is pushing it I try not to but I have and with great success on smallies. I even use them as a punching set up i have a al white one 1oz maybe 1.5 cant remember with a stanley ribbit frog as a trailer also in white that set up there was killer last spring and then for pike later in the summer though I went threw trailers every other fish it seemed when the pike were biting. i also throw a .5oz or 3/8oz AT with a cheap no name twin tail with a 16" leader tied to the hook then a fluke I toss that threw the veg ripping it and killing it rip rip kill or steady retrieve with pops I caught my first double that way followed be several others including a bass pike combo the pike bit last minute as i was landing the bass talk about having a heart attack bending down to grab a solid 2# bass to have a 30" northern come up and rip the bass and rig away from the bank while your inches from it. Clayton I thought you were chilling out on the supplements lol? I won't knock the AT jig, I just feel the grass stalker's head design is better for my use. I fish a lake where the bottom is covered with hydrilla. The only jig above 1/4oz I can cast and actually hop along the bottom without getting junk all over it CONSTANTLY. Quote

I have cut back a little bit only cuz I ran out and am waiting new shipment why you ask lol. Iv never thrown the UJ/BS jigs I do wanna try them though. Most the veg I throw stuff threw is idk what its called its thick nasty and the bottom if its hard bottom is usually slimmy snot grass that clings to everything. If i get stuff sticking to my set up it usually is on the hook or trailer but I rarely bring back veg with the AT grass jigs Quote
Super User J Francho Posted May 2, 2012 Super User Posted May 2, 2012 I'm investigating some possible new favorites, but my tried and true were Outkast RT jigs. Quote
msolorio Posted May 2, 2012 Posted May 2, 2012 i gotta try some of the swim jigs mentioned in this post. ive been using the dirty jigs california swim jig and i like it a lot. it comes through cover well and doesnt get covered in slop. Quote
Vinny Chase Posted May 2, 2012 Posted May 2, 2012 NorthStar Alien Head works really well in grass! Quote

Super User RoLo Posted May 2, 2012 Super User Posted May 2, 2012 I used to do a lot of pike fishing in the milfoil beds of the St. Lawrence River. At that time, Stanley dominated the skirted jigs and it was almost impossible to find a spire-nosed jig with a swept-back weedguard. The only one I found was the Denny Brauer Weed Sneek (long defunct) which was nothing more than a swim jig, before they had a name. Today, every jigmaker offers a swim jig, but rather than swimming them, they make excellent weed probes (top to bottom). BTW: I'm not talking about bladed grass but branching weeds (underwater forests). One of the first things I look at is the angle formed by the weedguard and jighead. The more obtuse that angle the better I like it. The Bass Stalker Grass Stalker is an example of what I try to avoid. Notice the nearly 90-degree angle formed between the weedguard and forehead of the jig. That perpendicular corner creates a dreadful weed trap, and doesn't get very far in milfoil or hydrilla without loading up. "Dirty Jigs" has a serious lineup of quality jigs that offer most of the features I look for in a jighead (no jig has them all). The No-Jack Punching JIg is a fantastic weed penetrator, but is not available in less than 1oz (my mat puncher). The No-Jack Flipping Jig isn't quite the weed penetrator as the punching model but is available in 1/2 oz The Dirty Jig Swim Jig is another great weed probe and is available in 1/4 oz Roger Quote
msolorio Posted May 3, 2012 Posted May 3, 2012 lol yea just read my post, didnt mean swim jigs, i must have been thinkin of swim jigs and not grass jigs haha sorry. but yea i meant the dirty jigs punch jig lol Quote
