so i was at wal mart a bit ago, lookin at their tackle selection and saw the pro max. looked it over turned the handle, all that good stuff. it looks good, and feels really smooth for an 80 dollar reel. i was actually kinda surprised. yea its not a lews tourny ss or a an mgx but for 80 bux it seems like a lot of reel. so im just curious as to who owns/ has used this reel and what your thoughts are on it.

I was checking these out at Walmart today myself. I don't own this model, but I do use the blackmax and the silvermax reels from Abu and love them.

The pro max is a great reel, i love it and would buy another if i needed to. Not trying to get off subject, but if you have an extra 20 bucks to add to that 80 i would deffinitely grab a BPS Pro Qualifier. If not, i can assure you you will be happy with the Pro Max.

the pro max is a decent reel. it can cast really, really far and IMHO, the 'magtrax' brakes on it are superior to the 'linear mag brakes' on the revo series. the problem with the max series is that they do not incorporate one-piece aluminum frames. after awhile, my pro max starts to squeak and squawk. plus, under load, you can feel it flexing a little bit. personally, i always recommending getting a reel with a solid metal frame.
