hey guys,

ive been using my baitcasting reels since the beginning of the season and love them! i don't get birdsnests or big backlashes. but i get these tiny little overruns on my spool while casting. like loose loops. just enough to annoy me after each cast to put into free spool and pullout the line until the loops are gone.

i mean i know how to set each lure weight for my tension knob and i have my breaks set the way i like them. but i just don't get why i have these tiny loose loops around my spool more times than not when i cast.

is it just my breaks? do i need to ride my thumb over the spool with a little bit more feathering?

please let me know what you guys think to help me out.

again its not a birdsnest or big backlash just on some casts i more likly than not get these tiny overruns where its only one or two spool turns that i have to pull out to make my line on my spool even again.

thanks,

I would say either a little more thumb or break. Maybe stopping the spool quicker when it his the water. Nothing to be worried about especially if this is your first season with baitcasters.

Probably you just need a little more on the thumb or one more increment on the magnetic brake. If you watch the tournament shows I see the pros pulling out a foot or two of line sometimes too. This also happens when "walking the dog" and line gets wound without tension.

It happens man. I have been using BC gear for years and it still happens to me every 20th cast or so i will strip out a few pulls of line and fix it. It reminds me to thumb the spool a little more and after about 20 more casts it happens again. Its a never ending process.

That makes me feel a lot better now lol
