My primary lake in Northeast Pennsylvania is a man made lake and is extremely weedy. I mean in 6 inches of water to the deepest parts (about 8 feet) have weeds. The spawn should be coming soon, and I was wondering if I should target shallow structure or "flats". I dont have a depthfinder so I'm kind of limited to guessing where they'd be. Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

My guess would be that the bass are already spawning, I am in Mass and I've been catching bass off beds for a couple weeks now. I would check the flats, andd on the flats if there are any stumps or anything like that, look for beds around that. In the weeds, just look for spots where there are none. There should be holes in the weeds where there is a bed

They will spawn just the same in weedy areas. Actually, beds are sometimes easier to spot in the weeds since the fish will actually clear them away somewhat. Look for light circlular clear areas in the weedy shallow flats. My homelake has a shore that is very dense with weeds, and its actually the easiest place in the lake see to bedded fish. If you can't see any, use a topwater frog or something similar to get a reaction out of them, and have a senko prepared to follow it up with. We took a couple of keepers our last tournament using this method over grassy spawning areas.
