Jake P Posted April 26, 2012 Posted April 26, 2012 Went to order my daughters birthday cake today from walmart and i when i got to the bakery the baker was on break. I took a stroll to the fishing department to kill time. I was looking at all of the new tackle they had stocked thinking to myself, when the hell did this happen? And then i saw it......On the bottom of the isle. 3 boxes FILLED up with the following Yum Money Minnows (the larg size) in packs of 2. There were a few packs in the box. An assortment of plastics including paca craws, yum dingers, power worms in 7 and 10", Yum wooley bugs, about 4 other yum plastics i am not familiar with. Cotton Cordel super spots in a few different colors including my 2 favorites, chrome and shad in 1/2 oz. Numerous other Cotton cordel cranks. Bomber cranks in a few different colors in medium and deep diving. Some small Storm swimbaits Strike king kvd cranks in sexy shad, lipless and deep divers. 2/0 and 3/0 gamakatsu ewg hooks water gremlin weights in 1/8 oz and 1/16 oz. 3/8 football jigs in black and blue, im unsure of the brand but i think they were booyah. Strike king 3/8 tungsten weights. Some small crappie baits and other random stuff i could careless about. These boxes were all labeled 1.96 cents with a red clearence tag. I thought surely this is false and only some were 1.96. The money minnows are pretty pricey so thought there was no way. I asked the sporting goods department employee about the price and he said yes everything in the boxes were marked 1.96 cents because they had been there since the 1st of the year and still have not sold. We just switched banks to Wells Fargo and closed out our account at another bank. Our debit cards have not hit the mailbox yet so all of our money is in the bank but no way to reach it unless i make a withdrawl and the bank was already closed. I only had 7 dollars cash in my wallet so i grabbed some super spots and SK red eye lipless cranks in bleeding shad. I wish they had the smaller size money minnows though, i have been wanting to try them. The size they had was WAY to large for where i fish. Quote
CrankinCarlos Posted April 26, 2012 Posted April 26, 2012 Are you aware in May wellsfargo is going to start charging maintenance fees unless certain criteria are met? Just trying to save you money for more bait. Quote
Jake P Posted April 26, 2012 Author Posted April 26, 2012 I believe it is already in effect. Debit card usage is one of the criteria. Must be used atleast 10 times a month which is no problem for me! Quote
kylek Posted April 26, 2012 Posted April 26, 2012 My local Walmart has the same deal going on. As soon as payday arrives I plan on stocking up on a few things!!! Quote
tnbassfisher Posted April 26, 2012 Posted April 26, 2012 I've gotten some really cheap Yum LPT stuff there recently. Some of the packs don't have many in them so you have to check and see how many are in each pack to see if it is worth the deal or not. Quote
Osprey39 Posted April 26, 2012 Posted April 26, 2012 You guys are lucky. The Walmarts here in Albuquerque have mostly crap for bass fishing tackle. They mostly sell stuff for trout. We just got a Dick's Sporting Goods here too and I went over there the first day they were open all excited because I have always heard how great their fishing departments are. They had like 2 aisles of fishing stuff and it was mostly junk too. In order to get the lures I want in the colors I want, I pretty much have to order online. Quote
jerzeeD Posted April 26, 2012 Posted April 26, 2012 I picked up the Pflueger Templar spinning reel that apparently made for walmart only. It is basically a President with 1 one less bearing for 10 dollars less. It feels everybit as smooth as my Presidents. For 50 bucks it's a steal. Quote
Super User tomustang Posted April 26, 2012 Super User Posted April 26, 2012 The best thing about those clearance boxes are they keep restocking them. Quote
Stasher1 Posted April 26, 2012 Posted April 26, 2012 My local WM will take a whole bunch of fishing stuff and put it in their clearance "corner" at the front of the store with the red stickers on it, but if it doesn't sell in a few weeks, they'll peel the red stickers off and move it back to where it came from...at full price. flippin Dan Posted April 26, 2012 Posted April 26, 2012 If any of you guys live near a Walls you need to check them out. One here that carries a lot of BPS stuff and all is marked at 75% off retail. Lots of plastics for about $1 a bag and jigs are about 60 cents. My brother bought a Rick Clunn set of crank baits (6 in the pack) for $22. Some pretty good deals at times. Quote
Delaware Valley Tackle Posted April 26, 2012 Posted April 26, 2012 I've gotten stuff that obviously either fell off the shelf into that box or was thrown in by other shoppers. If stuff from the clearance box rings up full price, tell the cashier and more often than not they'll discount the item. Also, the Kenami plastics are also from Yamamoto and work just as well for me as the Senko. Quote

outdoorsman110 Posted April 26, 2012 Posted April 26, 2012 My Kmart has senkos for 3.75, I bought a dozen packs because I didn't know when they'd realize that it isn't the msrp. 2 Quote
Super User QUAKEnSHAKE Posted April 27, 2012 Super User Posted April 27, 2012 I got a 10# anchor for 5$ reg price like $22 that will hold my Sea Eagle inflateable. Quote
