Bass pro has a good deal on their Nitro Tournament Z Low-Profile for 60 (originally 130)...my question is, should i get this reel since its so cheap or should i spend the extra money and get the BPS Pro Qualifier? im wondering if there is a reason why bass pro has them for so cheap right now.

thanks

The PQ is an awesome reel, as good or better than reels costing two or three times as much.

Get the Pro Qualifier, I dont know about this Z reel. It just doesnt seem right.

thats what i was thinking. i feel like they cant sell them...probably just going to get the PQ, i have never heard of anything but good reviews about that reel

Get the PQ. I own both the PQ and the Nitro Z. Both are nice but the PQ is deffinitely the better of the 2. I bought the Nitro Z a while back needing an affordable replacement for my spinnerbait rig when the reel i was using broke. I still use it now and love it. if 60 is your price range then get the Nitro Z, if you can afford the PQ then get it instead. It is worth the extra bucks IF you have it to spend. Otherwise, the Nitro will do what you need it to do.

PQ > any other bass pro reel. It's an amazing reel for the price

Been using my PQ for two + months and I have zero complaints.

PQ great reel, been reliable as heck for me. Best Bang for the Buck reel on the market imho.

looks like the Nitro Tourn Z is just a Browning Citori. Which were AWESOME reels. I never cared anything for all of the other bass pro brand reels except PQ and JM, but if this is just a Citori and Browning is making their reels, it would be a great buy. I'd go with it in a second.

More often than not the BPS deal of the week items are going to be closeout, or discontinued, items that are being replaced in their respectable product line. Not everything is junk in those deals, for example a couple weeks ago they had the JM black reel on there.

It's my understanding that Browning's fishing products are not manufactured by Browning, but by the same people who build BPS' gear and they (BPS) have exclusive marketing rights to Browning's fishing products. That's why you don't see Browning rods/reels being sold by any other retailer.

Pro Qualifier gets my vote.

Watch the sales though. They frequently drop the price to $79.99.

BassPro is pretty good about crediting you if they go on sale right after you purchase it at full, usually in the form of a gift card. Just contact customer service if this happens to you.

That reel was junk, at least for me. The thumb bar stayed in the free spool position and never came back up. The reel was used extremely sparingly. It was nice, but a bit heavy. Luckily bp is pretty good about returns.
