I want to buy this reel for bass fishing, i like that its super light and apperently casts a "mile". If anyone has this reel and could give me a review on it that would be great. I like to run 8-10LB fluro because 50% of the time i use wacky rigged senkos or use crank baits, so please tell me what kind of line you use on this reel ty

I've owned all three recent stradics. The Ci4, last years Stradic FI, and the new Stradic FJ. The new FJ I've only had for this season but it's signifigantly smoother retrieving than the other two. And the FI I liked much better than he Ci...the ci has a soft frame and feels flimsy when fighting fish...the frame feels like it flexes under a load.

IMHO it's not worth the weight savings...I throw fluoro all the time and prefer the new FJ by quite a bit. Hope that helps.

My FJ is smoother than my CI4's. On my CI4 2000 I use 10# braid and it has caught snook and reds of over 20#'s without a hitch. I wouldnt use 8 or 10# floro or mono on any smaller than my 4000 size though due to spool diameter.

ya thats what im worried about, i really would hate to buy this reel to find that every other time i cast i get bird nested and have to re spool

I use 2 stradic ci4s the 1000 and the 2500. The 1000 i use for walleye with 6-10lb pp super8 and the 2500 i use 8-10# fluoro for bass wacky rigs and drop shots. The above post is a bit out of left field saying to use a 4000 size spool for 8-10# fluoro.....the 2500 handles it with ease and is very manageable. Ive put 6lb mono on the 1000 just to try amd it worked great. I owned the fi versions and upgraded to the ci4s and am much happier. The fi nd fj just felt like tanks on my rods when i upgraded. The ci4 gives a perfect feeling and perfect balance to my legend extreme 69mlxf. The biggest draw back people seem to have with the ci4 is the foam handle. Some like it some hate it so they go for the paddles on the fi/fj. Ive pulled 20 lb flatheads out of 20 feet of river current pitching wingdams for walleye with the 1000 and it handled them as well as carp flawlessly. Using this reel and the weight saving factor will be determined by the rod you use. The reels are very light and unless you have the right rod it will feel tip heavy. If it does try the fi or fj. Both are solid reels. Unless your saltwater fishing i cant imagine using over a 2500 series reel. I think my ci4 is smoother than my fis were but the difference isnt much to where you will be "wowed". Gonna have to go to the stella for that. But the ci4 is a very smooth reel.

I don't recommend specific rods and reels most are pretty darn decent today, and I agree with 0119 regarding the management of anything over 8# mono on a small spool spinning reel. You might be able to get away with 8 or 10# mono on a wide spool 2000 spinner, but I'd still opt for braid for the strength and line capacity advantages.
