Craiger12 Posted April 20, 2012 Posted April 20, 2012 I'm looking for a football head jig to fish soft plastics in rocky cover. Basically I'm looking for a football shakey head. What do you guys use? Quote
Super User webertime Posted April 20, 2012 Super User Posted April 20, 2012 What weight are you looking for? Quote
Super User Nitrofreak Posted April 20, 2012 Super User Posted April 20, 2012 Yum Pumpkin'Ed Ummm what is that? I use strike king football heads in 3/16 to 1/2 oz, green pumpkin or black Quote
Craiger12 Posted April 20, 2012 Author Posted April 20, 2012 I will probably throw 1/4oz the most and 1/2oz as well. Quote
Vinny Chase Posted April 20, 2012 Posted April 20, 2012 I have always like Picasso's football head jigs...some people can't stand that thin diameter wire keeper, but I have never had an issue with it. NorthStar also has a great jig head. Quote
Super User Catt Posted April 20, 2012 Super User Posted April 20, 2012 Do a Yahoo or google search for Pumpkin'Ed jigs Quote
bama_bassin Posted April 20, 2012 Posted April 20, 2012 Catt - do u use the worms designed for this rig and drag 'em or something else? Quote
flippin and pitchin Posted April 20, 2012 Posted April 20, 2012 Tackle It in Lakeport CA has a special stand up football shakey head with a wide gap Gammi hook. I have had great success with this one. They sell on line. Quote
Super User Catt Posted April 21, 2012 Super User Posted April 21, 2012 I use worms, lizards, creatures, & crawl worms Quote
jkarol24 Posted April 21, 2012 Posted April 21, 2012 I have always like Picasso's football head jigs...some people can't stand that thin diameter wire keeper, but I have never had an issue with it. x2 plus, they are RAZOR sharp with a fairly thin diameter hook for easy penetration. Quote
Super User eyedabassman Posted April 21, 2012 Super User Posted April 21, 2012 I too would say the Northstar football jig for my number one. Quote
msolorio Posted April 21, 2012 Posted April 21, 2012 yea the yum pumpkin'ed is freakin awesome!!!!!! i also use the nichols screwball head and the megastrike stand up head. these things really do stay upright. its hard to topple it over and even if it does, it stands right back up. Quote
bama_bassin Posted April 22, 2012 Posted April 22, 2012 Anybody having trouble with the pumpkin Ed jig falling over constantly? I have been trying mine out and they seem to keep falling over. I have to constantly hop them to keep the bait standing up and then sometimes it falls over then. I am trying to keep it on a taut line as to prevent from me from me making it fall. Any suggestions? Diablos Posted April 22, 2012 Posted April 22, 2012 For regular football heads I use Revenge and for shake-e I use either the Strike King or Picaso Quote
Super User Crestliner2008 Posted April 22, 2012 Super User Posted April 22, 2012 Wish I had as many options! With our new lead ban, I have to get mine from Green Tackle.com, or a local fellow who pours bass jigs with bismuth/tin. Quote
