Right now I have all of my boxes in a backpack and really need some ideas on how you guys keep your tackle situated at home. I would really like something I can keep ALL of my tackle in and bring it along with me. Then when I get there I can pick and choose what I want to put in my backpack and take off down the banks. I was looking at the big tackle boxes, like the old school tray ones. Not sure if thats big enough though. I want room to expand ;D. Or maybe a bunch of clear boxes labeled and situated in a big rubbermaid box. What do you guys use?

Right now I carry a backpack with me on the banks. I am looking for a big hard tackle box or alternative, That I can store all my lures in and keep it at home, or put it in the back of my car and just pick and choose what I want for the day when I get to the lake or canal. That is a badass backpack though.

First let me say that I am a shorebound angler and I initially thought that I had to have everything with me on the bank.

I learned that it was quite cumbersome which I was somewhat willing to overlook, until I started to realize that:

1) Some lures worked with greater frequency and success than others

2) I was lugging all of this stuff and maybe only 3-7 lure types were actually being used.

3) This junk is getting heavy! Why am I lugging around this stuff for nothing.

I store at home the different plano boxes of hard baits and whatever lures and a bankers box to hold the bags of plastics. This helps to keep them out of sight and if you looked in my garage, you wouldn't even know that I fish.

I also use a backpack and in it I now put the planos of the lures that I think I will need or plan to use for that outing. I have a small BASS bag that carries my plactics and a zipper cd case (by quantum that I bought at Walmart that cost about $4) to carry my drop shot/finesse stuff.

You might or might not arrive at my findings, of how I used to carry everything with me and that's cool. But what I do take is everything I believe I need to catch 'em. It's more of a have a little bit of everything vs. bringing everything including the kitchen sink approach. ;D

get a big duffle bag (large travel bag) . as for me i got shelving in the garage , that way i can see all my stuff and find it right away . i couldn't see myself using all my tackle , there ain't enough hours in the day !!!!  ;D . but i just put all my stuff i will need on that day in my backpack . it already weighs about 35-40 lbs. !! i use to lug around a OKEECHOBIE FATS bag that holds 8 370 boxes , that thing weighed a ton !!! so my advice is to take only what you are gonna use that day , for me it's 1 double-sided crankbait box (crank baits, jigs, top-water lures ) a plano utility box ( for my swimbaits ) , my BROWNING jumbo binder (all plastics ) , 2 4x8 terminal tackle boxes (hooks and such ) , and 4-5 200yd. spools of different # line , misc. tools (needle-nose pliers , scissors , measuring tape , etc. ) , and that's about it . hoped that helped  :-?  :)

speaking of backpacks , you can get a great backpack at wal-mart for dirt cheap that will hold alot of stuff . when i went , i grabbed 3 plano 370's from the fishing section , brought them over to the backpacks then proceeded to pick the best pack that would hold the 3 boxes and have room for other stuff . mine holds 3 plano 370's and all the stuff i mentioned above . this is the back pack , it's only $13.oo !!!!! http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=11089435

If you have boxes that will fit, you can try some stackable milk crates.
