Like others have posted I need to bid farewell to the banks and get out my deep cranks and c rig.

You've got me. I don't know if I was fishing to fast, wrong technique/place, or what. Bites just didn't seem to happen for me. After a few trips I think maybe I would get frustrated to fast and switch to some other technique such as crankbaits, c-rig, fluke, spinner, t-rig, etc. I tried it this past weekend at Stonewall, no luck. Switched to Senko and bam, started catching fish.

Not sure what size head you were using, but maybe they wanted a lighter jig. I'm thinking they may have liked the slow fall of the senko as opposed to the drop of the shakeyhead. In all types of jig fishing, rate of fall is big consideration.

Stonewall river is really not known for big bass, max I would see is about 4 lbs, LMB or SMB, same for the Shennandoah in my area.

Down size your jig, green's and browns mixed together work pretty good over here, a rage tail craw works great as a trailer in either bama or green pumpkin.

Jigs and C rigs for me this year with a splash of chatterbait.

I need to break my habit of going with the use of crankbaits, topwater lures, inline spinnerbaits and spinnerbaits all the time and get more into frogs, and plastics this year..

I need to go with deeper running lures, jig n pig, I have them all but i'm using what works for now and i need to change my ways.

Now fish wise i need to target northern pike, small mouth bass, trout and salmon more too.

yeah I've seen all the videos on it plus the action video, it swims really well, I'd like to see if anyone on here has it and gets a lot of fish with it, I have no problem spending 50 bucks on a lure if it brings a nice fish every cast or 2 like in the youtube videos

I use to have a bull shad, it was a nice numbers swimbait. You wont catch one every two casts, those were hybrids in the video on the bull shad site, but they def will catch fish.

Learning jigs more.

Senkos and Dropshot minnows. Not so easy to do on a medium-speed river, but I've seen it done and just HAVE to try it this year.

Jerk Baits...again. I catch the heck out of fish with these when inshore fishing but never a Bass.

Though it's not a specific lure or a technique, I want to focus more on using my drag properly, especially on my baitcasters..

I have a tendency to horse fish in.

Swimjigs - Already off to a good start with these type of lures.

Swimbaits- Not off to a good start so far this year. It's hard to put down the jig, swimjig, and spinnerbait when they produce so many already larger fish for me.

call me crazy, but Im going to make the jump to even larger swimbaits. If 8" is good, 10" is great... right

What baits are you going to use?

What baits are you going to use?

I spend 99% of my time with a Hudd, but I just got a 10" Trout from Joe at Real Prey that I have put some time in with. I put in about 3 hours today, but got agitated and switched to the hudd and managed to stick a slob. But in time I'll get one on the Real Prey, its got it all goin right, as far as swim and all goes. Going to get a new rod that will handle it better then put some serious time in with it.

frogs and buzzbaits. I also "invented" a new (to my knowledge at least, I've never see or heard of anyone else doing it before) way to rig a senko that I'm itching to try out.

I guess I need to re-learn every thing. I can't catch a bass right now to save my life. Worst slump I have ever been in, March was ok....heck it was March, we were fishing in boats insted of standing on ice, and catching fish, so it was all good. April has been terrible. I am not sure I have a limit of keeper bass yet for the month. And it's not for lack of trying either. Jerkbaits, tubes, dropshot, lip-less and shallow cranks, jigs, shakey heads,senkos.............I might as well be throwing bare hooks, at least I might snag somthing on accident.

I would like to learn to effectively flip a jig into cover and work it at various depths.

Also, not so much a lure but trying to having patience and slowing down. Last year at KY lake I caught a bass on the 15th cast into some cover. The only reason I continued to cast to it is becasue the guy in the back off the boat was hung up in a tree and trying to get loose.

Mainly jigs. I've been trying to learn crankbaits for the past couple of years, so I'll still be going on that a lot too.

plan on trying swim baits this weekend and probably senkos this summer

Probably the Pop-R type baits, can't catch a fish on them to save my life. I have no confidence with them.
