Bought a carrot stick a couple mouths ago on sale at garder mountain. I would normally read reviews before buying anything ,but could'nt pass it up. Now I have read reviews saying there are issues with brakage. Have'nt had issues yet, but I'm looking for any opinions out there. I bought the Pro series 7' spinning rod.

If you've already laid down the coin, it's a little late to ask.

:laugh5:

All 'reviews' are subjective, and should be read as such. Don't worry 'bout it now, until you actually have a problem.

There was a warranty involved, right?

I bought one of the 6'6" MH PG Carrot Stix during that same Gander Mountain sale. It's performed flawlessly so far.

On any rod 90% of blank failures are the result of handling in one form or another. Protect the blank from impact with boat cleats and flopping jigs or weights etc which can compromise the fibers and avoid bending the tip beyond 90* to the butt by high sticking etc..

I know when they first came out there were issues. I think they should have them resolved by now. Like the others said...use it, if it breaks...take it back.

Like the other post said...most rods break because of something we do to them. Take care of it and there shouldn't be an issue.

i asked this a while back when my gander had for 75, lol then have em for 150, then on sale to 85 then to 75, then back to up to 150. lol anyway bought a in store warrenty, i lifed a dink, maybe 1.5 lb and i heard a crack, now i loved mine before this. I might just take it back and tell em...

ps sorry to confuse, but i heard a big creak, no damage, i can see by normal eye, but why the hell would it make sound like that

The reel shifting in the seat can cause a "Creak" noise.

I had a 7'6"H LTX (previous version of the PG) and I pulled up a brush pile from 15 FOW with it AND a 3" diameter underwater cable as well, with no issues.

I bought into the same Gander Mountain deal for $75. Bought a MH. I have not had any problems, but have yet to catch a fish on it. Casting and a few snags have not caused any problems. Waiting for frog season then it will be really put to the test. Really like the way it casts and performs so far. Would not have bought it for $150, but at $75 it seems like a great rod. My only complaint is where they put the hook keeper. Worst placement ever.

I bought a 7'Med and paired it up to a smoke reel about a month ago and its by far the lightest combo I own. I use it mainly for spinnerbaits and lipless cranks. Ive landed a couple nice sized bass on it and no issues so far.

I have several Carrot Stix, both spinning and casting rods. I haven't had any "issues" with any of them yet. One of them is 3 years old and still performs just as well now as it did when I first bought it.

I just clipped it off with some wire cutters. It cut my finger and that was that. It had to go.

Thanks guys, I really appreciate the insight of knowledge in experience on this issue. Now I feel more confident with putting this rod through its paces. There is a manufactures warranty, but I read that it's pretty lousy.

this was more of a loud crack, than a creak, i dont know why it would or should do that as none of my other setups

The one I got march 4th from Gander and had the buttcap fall off the day after buying it. I returned it and just noticed yesterday that on the new one, the blank was separating. As above I thought I heard a noise too one day. There was a black spiral groove going down between a few eyes. I returned that too. Im done with them. I like the look but obviously they arent up to par, even the new ones are reporting breaks. Ill probably get a carbonlite again

old thread, same problem. Bought two of these for a drop shot rod, and shaky head rod. Cheap rod tip fell off of one, snapped the other on a hook set. Most of the spinning rods I have, have been around for years- these are just not solid. They do feel good, but god awful quality. Real shame too- i wanted to like them.
