Super User BASSclary Posted April 18, 2012 Super User Posted April 18, 2012 Anyone know why that is? Have the newer Crucials stolen the Cumaras market? Or is there a new reborn Cumara to come soon? I sure hope it would be cork gripped... So does anyone know? I sure would like to see the New Cumaras with a new grip and reels seat. Quote
GOOCHY Posted April 18, 2012 Posted April 18, 2012 From what I've read the Crucials aren't even in the same ballpark as a Cumara and the Cumara's are going away. Read that on another bass fishing forum. Quote

Noticed that too...I've been cotemplating getting a cumara casting rod. To be honest if they would have put cork on the original cumara's I would probably have one already. I like the design of the reel seat and the feel of them, but just can't get past the EVA grip. Quote
Bass_Fanatic Posted April 18, 2012 Posted April 18, 2012 I dont know for sure...but I highly doubt that Shimano is doing away with the Cumara. Its too good of a rod to just toss. I have a feeling that we will see a new Cumara line released at ICast this year... 1 Quote
.Paxamus. Posted April 18, 2012 Posted April 18, 2012 Friend of mine at one of our local tackle stores who is the rod buyer just got back from a trip and had met with some of the Shimano guys and they all said it isn't going anywhere. I sure hope not, I love that rod!! Quote
Super User tomustang Posted April 18, 2012 Super User Posted April 18, 2012 Two sides of coin Sales are too good that it's biting into the sale of one other product Or Their making a revision, like a reel seat Quote
LuckyHandsINC. Posted April 18, 2012 Posted April 18, 2012 When I went to my local expo in march both the rep at the shimano booth and the Loomis booth told me they were unveiling a new cumara at icast. I don't know if its true but it does make sense now that they wre on sale everywhere. Quote

If this were the case, wouldnt they do away with the rod that isnt saleing as much? I bet we see a new and improved Cumara soon! Quote

Well have you seen the replies about people talking about the cumara being a better deal over the nrx, it takes sales away from a more profitable rod within the company. competing with yourself is not good business practice. Yup. Man I hate foam. I really liked the last Crucial series. They were very clean looking rods with a hint of flavor. If they made a new Cumara with a split or full cork grip, and a Fuji reels seat, count me in for a pre-order. Quote
Super User NorcalBassin Posted April 19, 2012 Super User Posted April 19, 2012 I couldn't resist the deals and picked up a 7'11"MHXF... they definitely must be coming out with a new addition for the prices to be dropped like this on multiple sites. Quote
Super User Hooligan Posted April 19, 2012 Super User Posted April 19, 2012 I'm not aware of anything firsthand, but have been told that there's a total revamp of the line in the works for ICAST2012. It would make sense, really. While I'm a little less than enthusiastic about the possibility of changes to one of my favorite rod lines, I suppose I'm also forced to roll with the punches, rarely have Shimano steered wrong on things like this. In terms of what the Crucial offers compared to the Cumara- there really is a pretty big difference. The crucial isn't anywhere near as light, and it just doesn't have the feel. Don't get me wrong, they're a really good stick at their price point, but they aren't in the same class as the Cumara. What I'd really, really like to see from Shimano is an expansion of the Cumulus line- Easily one of the best production rods out there. Quote
