Super User iceintheveins Posted April 20, 2012 Super User Posted April 20, 2012 Zoom has a better color selection and their lizard is a bit more subtle than the rager. Why not carry both? Quote
IneedAnewScreenName-515156154 Posted April 21, 2012 Posted April 21, 2012 I've had good success with them. Last time out I wanted to try something different than my usual Texas rig, so I tried nose-hooked weightless, and had good success. I wanted the bait to suspend as much as possible above a very mossy bottom... Quote
Diggy Posted April 21, 2012 Posted April 21, 2012 I wacky rigged one that was torn to bits on my wacky hook 2/0....killed them Quote
Super User LgMouthGambler Posted April 23, 2012 Super User Posted April 23, 2012 If you want to try something a little different then a lizard try an eastern newt (Bed Bandit). I'm not going off the deep and saying you will never buy another zoom lizard but they are prety productive. That 4 way amputee needs some legs to give it some action! haha Quote
Super User Nitrofreak Posted April 23, 2012 Super User Posted April 23, 2012 How can you say that one is better than the other when you obviously only fish one brand, or at least claim you do? I understand that you're trying to promote your sponsors, but when you bring it up in every post, it lessens the effectiveness of your promotion. I just think it's funny that you always say Rage is the best, but is that comparison after you've fished Zoom products right next to them? I've tried the Rage Craws and caught some fish, but also used a jig with Paca trailer at the same time and also caught fish. Tried the Rage shad and caught a few fish, but put on a shallow crank and caught more. For the availability, color selection and price, I think that Zoom has a lot of great options. I for one can attest to what RW is saying, Strike King has some amazing products that work tremendously well in the right circumstances, the Rage Tail product has helped me to place in my last tournament by catching more quaility fish rather than quantity. I have also used other products in the past and was reluctant to try anything else, that was until I too got a "little" frustrated with all the hype about Rage Tail, He issued a "challenge" so to speak, while the challenge was simply to try the product, I took it to heart, having never used any of the Rage Tail products in the past and knowing that my friends have never had any luck with them, I decided to try anyway. That day yeilded my PB bag of 5, 32 lbs 09 oz, I still did not win but I now have more confidence in my deep structure fishing and my shallow cover fishing, do I still use the other brands? yes, but Strike King and Rage Tail are just another tool I have in my arsenal, thanks to him. He is just saying in short to give these products a try, to help us become better at our trade, like I stated, under the right conditions, I agree, I think these baits are hard to beat. Quote
IneedAnewScreenName-972354 Posted April 23, 2012 Posted April 23, 2012 That 4 way amputee needs some legs to give it some action! haha How much action does a senko have? Sometimes more action is less attractive to a Bass. Quote
Hyrule Bass Posted April 23, 2012 Posted April 23, 2012 i personally fish the zoom and the rage tail lizards and have had virtually equal success on both. im a big fan of rage tails, and i dont particularly care for zoom worms, but the zoom lizards are excellent and i cant find any substantial difference between rage lizards and zoom lizards as far as fish catching is concerned. both zoom and rage tail make excellent lizards with the main exception being price... Skeet22 Posted April 23, 2012 Posted April 23, 2012 That 4 way amputee needs some legs to give it some action! haha Don't think it was designed to have action. I have caught some pigs on this bait that did not seem to mind the amputated legs! Quote
Nodda4me Posted April 23, 2012 Posted April 23, 2012 Yes....I have caught 20+ bass this month on a zoom 6'' junebug lizard t-rigged this month! Jeff so why don't you make VIDEOS? I like videos Quote
IneedAnewScreenName-972354 Posted April 23, 2012 Posted April 23, 2012 The Bed Bandit was designed around a certain appearance and tail design. The fins are actually sloped upwards 10 degrees from the horizontal to provide lift. The author of this thread is asking about fishing with lizards more than which brand is better. I think he got the answer to his question. Quote
Big-O Posted April 23, 2012 Posted April 23, 2012 To answer the first part of your question, a 6" Lizard is hard to beat when a 6" profile is what the fish are asking for. They can be fished in basically all water types and depths with good success. The rigging styles are extremely diverse as well to meet the challenges that water types give us. Lizards will often catch more fish than a worm of the same length and profile... and more often than not. The main thing to consider is overall profile, length and width or body thickness. For a fact, there are many good 6" lizards on the market. I may have been one the first Lizard chunkers in the state of Texas... I'm OLD And to answer the second part of your question, there are many good products on the market that will work in most conditions and some are more readily available than others. Also price is a consideration with everything and the price varies considerably as well. IMO, Is there a 6" lizard in the world that has better designed action than the Rage Lizard... No. Will the Rage Lizard catch as many fish as other 6" lizards in same colors and in the same conditions, YES. Will it sometime catch more, Yes. Is it more versatile for other uses such as a slow moving high action swimmer or weightless finesse top water, Yes. Does it have more action and a higher flicker rate at slower retrieve speeds than any other 6" lizard in the world, Yes. Have I tested it in all of these conditions and along with many of the most popular 6" Lizards, Yes. Does it cost more than many other 6" Lizards, Yes. Is it worth it... To many it is! All my opinion of course BTW, I used a Zoom Lizard when it was first introduced and it's a good product... www.ragetail.com Quote
Super User K_Mac Posted April 24, 2012 Super User Posted April 24, 2012 Big-O I like your style. Zoom is a big favorite of mine, and I am one that is not quick to change something that is working. Cost is always a factor, but I am willing to pay for results (within reason). I don't fish for a check, but I will give your lizards a try. I will not order them for a while; I have broken the tackle budget for the year according to my wife. At least for the spring anyway... The only Rage product I have tried is the 10" Anaconda. When a big worm is called for they now are my first choice. I may even try your jig trailers, but I have this thing about NetBait craws and chunks... Quote
