supermanct Posted April 15, 2012 Posted April 15, 2012 My son and I went fishing this AM. We managed a few bass ,3 crappie,1 raccon perch, 20 bream and a 24" bowfin. My son did a great job with the net. Quote
Super User 00 mod Posted April 15, 2012 Super User Posted April 15, 2012 Man those things are nasty, but fight like a champ. We regularly catch them when spinner bait fishing! Jeff Quote
Big-O Posted April 15, 2012 Posted April 15, 2012 WTG, I'm surprised the bowfin didn't chew a hole through the net Bet your son had a blast on that excursion! www.ragetail.com Quote

bwell Posted April 16, 2012 Posted April 16, 2012 Nice! They are a nasty fish for sure, but fight good. A guy that works with one of my buddy's caught but didn't know what it was, and he lipped it to try to get the hook out! My buddy said his thumb was all tore up. Quote
fxdwgkd Posted April 17, 2012 Posted April 17, 2012 If I had caught that I would have thought it to be a snakehead. Did a little research and found the differences between the two. Thanks for posting a pic. Quote

WookieeJedi Posted April 17, 2012 Posted April 17, 2012 I saw one hanging out near a weedline last week. It was the biggest one I have ever seen, I would have guessed him at 15 or more. I tried to get him to bite, but he wasn't having it. I thought maybe I could get a state record, but when I came home and looked it up, our record is over 20. No way he was that big. It still would have been fun, though. Quote

WookieeJedi Posted April 23, 2012 Posted April 23, 2012 You bet I had a Mustad hook. I registered back when that offer started. I'm not sure if I would have even tried to catch that fish otherwise. Quote
