TidePride37 Posted April 15, 2012 Posted April 15, 2012 I am thinking about buying a spooling station so that i can get my line tight on my reel. Any suggestions on what i should do to get my line tighter on my spool? Quote
Stasher1 Posted April 15, 2012 Posted April 15, 2012 I love my Berkely spooling station, and use it to spool all of my reels - casting, spinning, and fly. 2 Quote
Ima Bass Ninja Posted April 15, 2012 Posted April 15, 2012 I use one if the aluminum portable ones that has the suction cup in the bottom. Probably one of the best investments I've made. Although I did have toodify it slightly to get the results I wanted. Quote
outdoorsman110 Posted April 15, 2012 Posted April 15, 2012 I don't use one, I use my hand or my girlfriend's hand. 3 Quote

via Posted April 15, 2012 Posted April 15, 2012 i use the Shark Tooth KVD Leader Comtrol to spool all of my reels. Quote
Super User clayton86 Posted April 15, 2012 Super User Posted April 15, 2012 i never seen the point of one iv always used a pen or something stuck between couch cushions if no one was around to hold it and just pinched it between my fingers as it went onto my reel. after all its only gonna be wraped on there nice and perfict till u use the thing then that first cast its goneand comes back on the spool the same way wether i used a station or a pen wedged in some thing. maybe im mistaken but thats my take on it 1 Quote

tipptruck1 Posted April 15, 2012 Posted April 15, 2012 I never even thought about buying one. I due what I heard a long time ago. I run the line through some heavy books. Quote
Sherlock 60 Posted April 15, 2012 Posted April 15, 2012 Get the Berkley Spooling Station. Well worth the money and a real time-saver. Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted April 16, 2012 Super User Posted April 16, 2012 I don't have one, but I think it's a worthwhile investment, especially for mono lines. At present I just want to get the line onto the spool, I always soak my line in warm water before spooling, then before my initial use I go the inlet(fast moving river or stream would work too) troll my line out and it's perfect. Super User Fishes in trees Posted April 16, 2012 Super User Posted April 16, 2012 I think mine helps me put line on bait casters more consistently. Quote
Super User LgMouthGambler Posted April 16, 2012 Super User Posted April 16, 2012 Never used one. Just lay the spool on the ground, and pinch the line between my fingers as its reeled in. Halfway give a spray of L&L, then finish reeling in the rest. Never had a problem for 15 years. Spend your money on better stuff. Quote
Super User J Francho Posted April 16, 2012 Super User Posted April 16, 2012 Here's my spooling station. Quote
Stasher1 Posted April 16, 2012 Posted April 16, 2012 Here's my spooling station. http://plan-b.smugmu.../L/photo2-L.jpg The Berkley model is alot cheaper and won't eat all of your Oreos. 1 Quote
Super User 00 mod Posted April 16, 2012 Super User Posted April 16, 2012 Wish they made one with a line counter.....that way you could figure out easier how much you have used on a spool and then know if you can fill another spool or are gonna run short.... Jeff Quote

Super User Deleted account Posted April 16, 2012 Super User Posted April 16, 2012 Not a fan, but I spool from 3000yd or 1 lb spools most of the time, those little spools can be a pain in the ****. Quote

Super User J Francho Posted April 17, 2012 Super User Posted April 17, 2012 Yep, just flip it. If you have two of the same reel, start with 75 yards of braid. Then join the backer and fill it. Then transfer to the other reel. Take measurements of the backer as well, for the other reel. Quote
