:)

Just spooled my new Curado 200G7 with Power Pro 50lb. The spool has the 150 yards, I put around 100 yards on my reel, what to do with rest of it? Garbage?

What you guys do with it?

I have fluro leftovers from spooling my other reels (spinning) and that I can use for leaders, But braid I will use 1st time...and have no idea how I can use it.

Thank you.

You need to put more backing on your reel so you can fill two spools with one pack of braid. Put 75 yards on each real. If you need more than 75 yards per real, then buy a bigger spool of braid. Just curious- why do you need 100 yards of line for bass fishing. Seems like you could get away with using 75 yards like I mentioned.

Thank you for replay.

Will do some pike and walleye fishing as well. I'm new to fishing , started last year (spinning rod and float +live bait), will do some fishing between end of May and September...then again break until next summer.

100 yards...probably don't need, just spool it because read that ''more line - longer casts'' (but not too much line)...and I'm not sure maybe I spooled only 90 yards (little less then 1/4'' form edge of the spool).Another reason to spool that much is birds nest, I practiced a few times ...all together maybe 8 hrs, on 2 reels Chronarch+Avid Medium and Curado + Fenwick MH...with cheap 17 lb mono line...got only 1 bad bird nest (had to cut some line)....and a few small one that I could go away with ''thumb trick'' could cast - around 30 yards with 3/8 oz with not much of a problem to target around 3x3 feet (no wind) , but you never know.I don't wanna be short with line on the lake some day ")

Thank you , next time will do little less :)

Ok, here ya go. There is a way to detrermine how much backing to put on your reel so that you'll know exactly how much braid you need to fill the reel the rest of the way, but I just eyeball it. You'll get the hang of it after you've relined your reels several times.

If you're leaving a 1/4 inch of the spool unlined, then you're not puting enough line on your reel. I fill my reels to the TOP. Try filling your spool atleast 1/16" from the top.

Depending on the size of your spool and braid, fill the reel 1/4 the way with backing then apply the braid. If you find that you can cast SUPER far and still have plenty of braid left on the reel, then add more backing the next time you respool. Like I said, I eyeball it but that takes practice.

I don't lnow the mathematical equation, but one way of doing it is like this. Go outside and measure out about 50 yard of your braid. Fill your reel 3/4 the way with backing and apply the braid. If you can't fit all 50 yards on your reel the start over and put less backing.

Thank you.

But the knot between backing line and the braid won't make any problem?

No beacause you won't be able to cast far enough to get to the knot. I make it so I have about 20 feet of braid remaining on the reel before the knot after my cast.

So looks that now I know what to do with 50+ braid leftover.

Thank you.

You could always do what I do with my short spools of line, i.e., throw it in the bin with all the other short spools of line. In my 20+ years of serious fishing, I certain I have dozens and maybe as many as a hundred random spools with an unusable quantity of line on them. Just throw them in the bin with all the others. Sooner or later you'll figure out a use for them and when you do you'll have a lot of them.
