5dollarsplash Posted May 10, 2013 Posted May 10, 2013 @5dollarsplash..., Shout out for NW wisconsin! If you know where New richmond is try any of the lakes around there. Squaw, Cedar, and Bass are good spots to start. The Willow river is great for smallies and the state park in Hudson is a gold mine for large mouth. Most guys around here are fishing walleye's so the bass spots are mostly un-touched. If you want to go a little further north, Mudhen lake east of Siren has a great topwater bite all summer long. Otherwise you can hit the St. Croix river but it's hard to work around the pleasure boaters. I was gonna try the Apple River Flowage up in Amery this coming summer as my "new lake of the year" but finding info on it has been difficult at best. Late getting back to you, but much appreciated Quote

tipptruck1 Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 from what I heard ice just got out a few weeks ago. Around my neck of the woods. Ice has been gone for about a month. Last week I went out and the water was i am guessing around 50-60 degrees still. Quote
Super User MarkH024 Posted May 30, 2013 Super User Posted May 30, 2013 has anybody had any luck up north yet? gonna be up there in a few weeks My place is about an hour north of Madison. Had water temps in the 60's for wisconsin opener and crushed them. I went for memorial day and already had a great topwater bite. Not sure how much further north you were speaking but like stated, Ice out was just a couple weeks ago WAY up there. Quote

Way up north also got hit with a snow storm last week also. Hurley WI got hit with 18 plus inches. Granted there right on the lake shore. But still 18 inches this late. Quote

Super User Scott F Posted May 30, 2013 Super User Posted May 30, 2013 I was just South of Hurley for the last 2 weeks and I never saw 18 inches of snow. Or heard of any accumulation. On the 12th of May, there was about 1/4 to 1/2 inch that was on my boat in the morning but was gone by 9 am. Water temps got near 50 a week later and the smallies started showing up in large schools. Several times we'd find them on a point or some non-descript area and get them on every cast. We got around 70 out of one school alone. Almost none of them would have been considered dinks either. They were almost all 14 to 18 inches. If you weren't on a school, you didn't get any. The water warmed to the middle 50's and stopped going up. The smallies continued to hit, but the largemouth bite never got going. We caught 3 times more muskies fishing for bass than we caught rock bass! Normally, you can't keep the rockies off your hook. This year, only 1 in two weeks. Nearly all the smallies we caught, and most of the largemouth came on suspending jerkbaits like Lucky Craft Pointers and X-Raps 2 Quote
tipptruck1 Posted May 31, 2013 Posted May 31, 2013 Well then the person that told me that. Must have been confused, Quote

jeb2 Posted June 3, 2013 Posted June 3, 2013 Im near Lake Tomahawk and Rhinelander. Thanks for the info, gonna fish really slow That's the area I'm headed to as well. So any reports from that area would be appreciated. Quote
BASShunterOH Posted June 3, 2013 Posted June 3, 2013 Hey guys, I'll be going to to the mirror lake area in the 12th. How's the fishing there? And what other places do you recommend in that area? Quote
tipptruck1 Posted June 4, 2013 Posted June 4, 2013 I had to Google that lake. If you men places to eat, stay, or what ever. Your se of the dells. Plenty of places to do what ever. I don't know any good places to hang out, or eat. I have only driven though the dells may times. Never stayed for longer the it took to drive through. If you mean fishing. You have the WI river right there. Depending on when your going. I would avoid lake delton like the plague. Take a look at this from google maps. https://maps.google.com/maps?q=mirror+lake+wi&ie=UTF-8&hq=&hnear=0x8807448f30a66dc3:0xbb1e7d8ad466e633,Mirror+Lake&gl=us&ei=KlitUeCvCIWMyQHywYGQAg&ved=0CIkBELYD You just have to go ne a bit. Just south of the dells. You will see what I am talking about. Quote
BASShunterOH Posted June 4, 2013 Posted June 4, 2013 I'm only going to fish, I have time share in dells. I will avoid delton tho. I will be there June 12/13th. I did check out the maps. Just wasn't sure if some spots were better than others. Quote
jeb2 Posted June 12, 2013 Posted June 12, 2013 Put the boat on the water last Saturday in the Lake Nokomis area. Fished 2-3 hours at different times of the day Sat/Sun/Mon. Bass fishing only, catch and release of course. Have over 40 fish in the boat so far, so pretty fair fishing. Water temps are 58-62 and the bass seem to be finishing up the spawn. Weed growth is behind compared to previous years, but they are starting to pop, and what shallow weeds there are seem to be holding bass. Hope the good fishing continues into the warmer parts of summer. Quote
BASShunterOH Posted June 12, 2013 Posted June 12, 2013 That's awesome to hear man! I'm leaving out of ohio tomorrow night and headed up there. Will arrive around 5am and try to be in te water by 7!! What were you using? Quote
jeb2 Posted June 15, 2013 Posted June 15, 2013 C-rigs with various craw plastics on them, senko's, small Jewel Jigs, flukes all caught fish. Quote
BASShunterOH Posted June 16, 2013 Posted June 16, 2013 I didn't make it I we there, but it was a fun time. To bad we got a couple storms tho. As for the bass, a few 2/3 #ers This was catch of the weekend. Quote
29JMP29 Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 C-rigs with various craw plastics on them, senko's, small Jewel Jigs, flukes all caught fish. What lakes were you fishing? I caught some decent ones on some of the smaller lakes on a spinnerbait this week. I was thinking about going to nokomis but the wind was pretty bad and my boat is waaaay too small Quote
jeb2 Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 Nokomis and Crystal. Haven't done much on the spinner bait yet. Been throwing it some, but no fish on it yet. Yesterday was slow with the cold front and east wind, caught 10 or so before 9am and 3 more in the afternoon. Headed out again in a few minutes, but it's another chilly one. Quote

jeb2 Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 Crystal is very small, so yes, I do. Not what I prefer though. We did good yesterday, 16 bass in about 2.5 hours. All but 3 good fish. Jigs deep, senkos in the weeds. Threw the spinnerbait around some, but just not getting bit on it yet. Quote
