Thanks for replying guys.Ewedbass, I'm sure glad I don't have to fish in your corner of the state, the pleasure boats and jetskis have to be a *****. Intruder,My best friend has a cabin in McGregor Iowa. I spend about 20-30 days a year down there. My favorite are Wyalusing, Spring lake and downtown PDC. I have cabin about 60 miles north of Green Bay and spend about 90 days a year up there. ( i'm retired) I fish Boulder lake, Paya lake, Boot lake,,Bearpaw lake, and Archibald. There are some great LM in these lakes but far more 10-12 in. fish I f I catch 2 legals I'm happy. Smallie fishing in downtown Green Bay in May, (Fox river) is fantastic.. Red and Chart. cranks and spinner baits are all you need, fish the rip-rap all the way from the mouth up to the dam llets keep this thread going for awhile. I'm going to be gone for the next 2 weeks. ( fishing Kentuckey Lake) I hope when I come back there will be a lot of posts from Wis. bass fisherman. Keep the lines tight.

Ya, these lakes get pounded bad to the point that you can't fish them on weekends! You have to be on the lake early or late in the day. That is why I have been guideing at night for the last ten years.

If you get a chance to get down here and fish. Go to Delavan Lake! I had 13 fish that were 6 lbs or over 6. Good luck on your trip.

PS I will be talking on the Cutting Edge radio show in May or June, talking about bass fishing at night!

Pool 10 gets kinda crazy around PDC, there is a tourney out of there just about every weekend. I try to stay away from there until after Labor Day.

The Bassmasters "mystery lake" is Green Bay. Announced this p.m. I got on the net to be a marshal and received my confirmation about 4:00 p.m. I'm pumped. Hope the weather is decent, because a 30 mile trip on Green Bay in big wind will be torture. Should take between 70-80 lb.s to win it. Two Bassmaster tournys in Wis. in one year, Whod a thunk.

I think 70-80 lbs to win it might be a push. I am not say that will not happen. Even with how big the smallies are now getting. All thanks to the goobies. It still might not reach that. I know there are people pulling 5 plus lbers out of green bay and sturgeon bay. But to be able to get a limt of 5lbers for three days. That might be hard to do.

I was just looking at the results of the sturgeon bay bass turny. The winning weight of it was just over 60 lbs. That was with two guys on the boat.

I know how the weather is one the lake. Just make sure you come back alive. My buddy thinks i am crazy because I will not get in green bay with out a 20ft minium boat. I wont even go on the sturgeon bay shipping channel in any thing less then 18 ft non jon boat. I do not think he know 3ft waves just come from no were. Also I dont think he knows how fast storms brew up on the lake. You know as well as I do. I can be 80 and sunny. The next minute Its 50 with rain. Then throw in 40 mph winds and 3 ft plus waves. not fun.

What's up guys i live in Reedsburg (just west of the Dells) I fish some small lakes around my area. Mainly Dutch Hollow, and Lake Redstone, also fish the wisconsin river in the Dells area and from time to time make the drive to Wisconsin Rapids to fish the wiscy river up there for smallies, also used to fish lake wisconsin quite a bit. Glad to see a wiscy thread start again.

I live north of Green Bay in Peshtigo. I fish the Menominee River most of the time.

Howdy guys, So Wisconsin near the Ill state line. Fish all over the state but stick to mostly smaller waters when I'm close to home. Turtle-Flambeau, Wisconsin River and Pools 9-11 on the Mississippi are my favorite waters.

How do you become a marshal???

Hows the fishing this year? I have been way to busy and no money. Unless I get more free time and more money. I don't think I will be fishing.

But that might not be a bad thing. Last year I only fished a hand full of times. Every time I went out my shoulder would hurt. I threw it out 8 years ago in high school. I just kept reinjureing it. So if I sit out this year That should give it time to heal.

Eythebassman. Go to Bassmaster.com. Click on tournys at the top of the page, then click on "elites" click on " marshal" then go to the Green Bay tourny. and fill out the application. I don't know if they have any space left, but it's worth a try. Good luck

Although I'm a Missouri guy who normally hits the bass lakes down here, my family has a cabin on Lake Michigan in DC just south of Jacksonport. I'm usually up there a couple of times a year and mainly go for the salmon in the lake. I'd like to try my luck at LMB or SMB sometime while I'm up there. I have fished Clark lake with no luck as lake seems real shallow. I was thinking of trying the Sturgeon Bay canal or throwing a kayak on the Mink river. Anyway, if any of you guys have some tips, of course without giving up your honey holes, I'd appreciate it. Planning on heading up in early July.

Thanks.

I will be moving down to Kimberling City Mo. within the next year!

Scarecrow, you might want to look at " Little Sturgeon" bay as a spot to fish . Just a few miles south of Sturgeon Bay. Great smallmouth fishing. Also, Sawyer Harbor at the mouth of the ship canal on the bay side in Potawatomi Park. Early morning topwater bite is fantastic. ( chugbug, pop'rs, etc.) rest of the day just drag goby colored tubes or grubs on a jig. Any sportshop in the area can help with the colors. Good luck and have fun.

I was going to say the same thing. But if you want to fish the canal hire a guide. you could spend days fishing it and not catch a thing. Be live me I grew up in Sturgeon bay. In the 5 years of fishing there I only caught one fish. But I didn't have a boat. Come July I would stay off the canal for fishing period. Way to many pleasure boaters. You will have to get there in the early morning if you want to fish it.

The inland lakes Door county are great for fishing. Clark lake and Kangaroo lake are good. Yes Clark lake is very shallow. I remember swimming there as a kid. I mean a 10 year old kid. I could walk out a mile and it would only be to my chest. I have a web site for you. You can do searches for reports. Check out lake-link.com

Thanks for the tips guys. I'm thinking I'll just hit the two bays you guys mentioned. I have a 16' V bottom with a 20 horse and will probably put in at the quarry, Unless there are closer ramps?? I guess the canal is pretty shallow in some areas. Do you guys recommend any fishing shops in DC for advice. We used to go to Mac's for everything, but that place is long gone.

Scarecrow, there are great landings at both little Sturgeon and Potawatomi Park. Both run by the state. Good ramps and parking. I am not sure about sport shops in the area but ask around, i'm sure they are there. Good Luck

Yea the canal is very shallow. From shore to the main canal. It is less the a ft to 15ft. At the main canal I think it gets about 30 ft deep. Thanks to the zebra muscles cleaning the water. The shallows are full of weeds. If there are not weeds it has docks full of boats.

If your fine paying a few bucks more for fishing tackle. Isay hit up the local ma and pa stores in dc. But I would not buy any thing unless needed. I hate even having to buy non fishing stuff in dc when I go over there because of the cost vs were I live. The is a wal mart target and a dunhams sports. But dont think they have munch. Green Bay or online will be the best bet. Green bay has a Gander Mt, dicks, and two fleet farms. Fleet farm might have the smallest fishing department. Compared to the first two. But you can almost get evry thing there. Since I am guessing your driving up. Depending on what route you take you will go by all three.
