I have been wanting to check water temps at different depths. I have been searching for a temperature probe and the only ones I can find go to about 20', in my price range ($50), I would like to find one that goes to at least 50'. Any ideas?

Thanks

Two:

-Cline-Finder -120bucks or so, but works.

-Thermometer on a metered line (mark ever foot). Takes longer but works.

Cabela's offers an inexpensive unit, by Minn-Kota I think. But a friend had one and said it was cheap and soon failed him.

I have two of the Minn Kota air/water thermometers. They work great if you don't let them get wet ( I ruined one before getting the two I have now). The remote sensor cord is 23'. I have one mounted on my boat or air and surface water temps and the other is mounted to a large fishing line spool that I use to confirm thermoclines within it's reach.

I also have one made by Vexilar that is over 25 years old and it has a 100' sensor cord.

Thanks guys for the info. I did find the one from Minn-kota and it is just to short for what I need. I also thought about useing some cord and a thermometer, but when you get down 50' or so you have to pull it back up through the water column, which will change the temp to some degree. I will do a search on the cline finder.
