Lake Minnetonka is my #1. Obviously Lake Minnetonka is a must for any bass guy in MN. Many lakes in Carver county are really strong bass lakes, like Eagle, Pierson, or Steiger (7 of the Top 10 Bass Fishing Lakes in MN are in Carver County, including the lake where the record was caught in '05).

Look at Prior Lake, Waconia, or WBL (White Bear Lake is like a mini-Lake Minnetonka, and it's a very solid bass lake). Calhoun & Isles actually have some big bass as well (6-7 lbers). Chisago Lake has the quantity (you can catch 50-60 bass in a day no problem).

I also live in Stillwater, but my favorite is DeMontreville.... that is where I caught my 7 1/2 pound largemouth, and im only 13

That is a pretty big bass for MN...You should post a picture, I would like to see that fish!

i agree with vinny!

x3.

7.5 lber on DeMontreville? Not Guntersville right? ;) Not calling you a liar...but throw that thing on an actual scale and you'll probably see that weight drop by a pound or two

Just to give you an idea...this is a legit 7 1/2 lber I found on the internet; don't see too many of these around these parts!

X4. I think that would be my personal best as long I would live MN. Isn't the record here 8.15? that fish would be pretty close lol. Lake Minnetonka is still a favorite bass lake for me for catching quality and QTY bass. Pelican is also great for Pike! I also like the Rum river in Anoka for smallies.

Not calling him a liar either, but I thought my fish were a lot bigger when I was younger and before I got a good scale.

This is my biggest ever and it came from a pond. We think she weighed in at about 6 3/4 lbs, but with our harsh seasons and environments on public lakes, I would say there are only a handful of 7 1/2 lbrs out there.

7 1/2 lbs is plenty doable in MN don't get me wrong your never going to boat a limit of them but i have personally seen many in the 6-7 1/2 lbs caught up here in central MN and personally know of two that broke the state rec but it takes a lot of time on the water and shorelines to come across them

Didn't say it wasn't doable at all and I never said there wasn't those fish in our lakes, but I said that they are far and few between...I don't think I have personally even seen a 7 lbr come out of a MN lake. I would just love to see a pic of a 7 1/2 MN bass.

I will dig through some old pics and see if i can find a few for ya Vinny they are amazing fish for this state that's for sure another thing that makes it hard for them to get big in this state is that there is so many people that won't do replica mouts because they don't look like the real thing but if you find the rite taxidermist they really do or they are those real crazy ones that think bass taste good and eat everyone they catch should be a catch and release fish world wide JMO

Do share! A 7 is really hard to come by up there. Hooligan has reportedly caught several over 7 pounds in MN. I have personally seen 4 over 7 pounds caught up there. I only fish it for a week every spring and sometimes another week in the August. A 6 pounder is just a real accomplishment up there and a beautiful fish. A 7 is truly unbelievable.

We did VERY well...First went to O'Dowd on Friday and caught a lot of males up shallow. We saw the females roaming, but couldn't get them to bite. Monday, we fished a local lake and found the big females on the first break around structure. The presentation of choice was a NorthStar Custom Baits Flip and Swim jig with a swimbait trailer.

Great opening weekend!
