JigMe Posted April 13, 2012 Posted April 13, 2012 I fish a small pond in my community once a while, and the most productive bait is finesse Jig. Pitch it out, and jerk it twice then wait few seconds. Quote
Mountain Angler Posted April 13, 2012 Posted April 13, 2012 Mines a minniow crank bait and i fish the outside and work my way around and into the middle where the lillipads are Quote
BassinNY Posted April 13, 2012 Posted April 13, 2012 Cranks,Jigs and Soft Plastics all produce regularly for me. Quote
Super User ww2farmer Posted April 14, 2012 Super User Posted April 14, 2012 It's hard to beat a frog over the top and a senko in the weed holes/edges on most of the ponds I fish in summer. Add a spinnerbait or shallow crank in spring and fall. I like to keep it simple when pond fishing. Quote
MrSwimJig Posted April 14, 2012 Posted April 14, 2012 Swim jigs, jigs, soft plastics, spinner baits and buzz baits. With swim jigs being my favorite! Quote
Super User whitwolf Posted April 15, 2012 Super User Posted April 15, 2012 Zoom finesse worm(watermelon/red) or a Zoom 4" dead ringer Texas rigged(watermelon)......I also like to throw jerkbaits.....Usually Rouges will suffice. Quote
debard Posted April 15, 2012 Posted April 15, 2012 Chatterbait. Replace the skirt with a swimbait Bet most of your pond bass haven't seen anything like it. Quote
Bass Junkie Posted April 15, 2012 Posted April 15, 2012 Spro Bronzeye or sight fishing on a bright day. Not bed fishing, sight fishing. When you have a four pound largemouth blowing up on a frog within 24" of your face as you're kneeling on the bank after the fish tracked the frog the whole way in is awesome... Quote
TxBankFisherman Posted April 15, 2012 Posted April 15, 2012 x2 zoom fluke.. but color I like is watermelon seed.... and tornado spinnerbaits... chart/pepper last but not least 10" blue fleck powerworm... Quote
hatrix Posted April 18, 2012 Posted April 18, 2012 If I can reach the other side of the pond when I cast I'll work a fluke style plastic. Twitch, twitch, twitch, and pause the lure gets slurped. Caffiene Shads are what I like to use. If I can reach the other side then im looking for a new pond to fish Quote
njbassnj Posted April 21, 2012 Posted April 21, 2012 I like fishing wacky rig 4 inch senkos or 4.8 flick shakes in open water but around weeds you cant beat a frog! Youll be suprised what size fish are under those mats! Quote
WookieeJedi Posted April 21, 2012 Posted April 21, 2012 I always start with something like a jig, and get a feel for the bottom, and the other stuff under the surface and go from there. If you hear or see an abundance of frogs, go with the frogs. That'a a lot of protein for a pond fish, and very hard to resist. Quote
cajun_flipper Posted April 21, 2012 Posted April 21, 2012 Super Fluke in watermelon red for me. That is my Number 1 pond bait. Second place goes to a hula grub or rage craw on a jig head closely followed by a buzzbait. Quote
Treydizzle45 Posted April 24, 2012 Posted April 24, 2012 I've got my personal bests at all ponds using a kvd swimjig black/blue or brim color Quote
Jigs 4 Pigs Posted April 25, 2012 Posted April 25, 2012 spinnerbait, swim jig, and ANY soft plastic Quote
rdollar80 Posted April 26, 2012 Posted April 26, 2012 Rapala minnow in black and silver. Learned how to bass fish with it in small ponds when I was a kid. If it wouldn't have worked I probably wouldn't be fishing today...lol Quote
Josh. Posted April 26, 2012 Posted April 26, 2012 In my ponds, I KILL them on drop-shot. given my ponds don't have any huge bass. But still fun! Also, when its cloudy, I throw spinnerbaits. Quote
HLNichols Posted April 28, 2012 Posted April 28, 2012 In ponds, I go for a Zoom 6" Finesse Worm in a motoroil/chartreuse color. If that fails to serve it's purpose, I use the Zoom green pumpkin fluke. I sometimes use those Fox Roostertail Spoons or a small BPS Lipless Crankbait. Quote
