Polarkraft05 Posted April 11, 2012 Posted April 11, 2012 My line is 20 pound braid, tied straight to the hook with a palomar knot. using 3/0 EWG hook. no weight, also had it tied with a small bullet weight with same results swimbait is a 4" reaction strike fathead jr. all on a spinning reel, shimano sahara 2500 FD the problem is, it spins in circles. tight circles not wobble, just perfect spin like a blade on a spinnerbait. i know the hook is kinda small for it, but it is all i had. Do i need to have the weighted hooks? the package does say it can be rigged weightless these baits look really good to me, but not if i cant get them to swim instead of spin. Quote

I would go with a 5/0 weighted hook probably, but you can take some lead wire or eve split shot and make your hooks weighted. NGaHB Quote
Polarkraft05 Posted April 11, 2012 Author Posted April 11, 2012 do you think thats the only reason it is spinnning, that the hook is too small and light? Quote
North Ga Hillbilly Posted April 11, 2012 Posted April 11, 2012 Thatd be my guess. Reaction Strike dont get my best marks as a bait maker, but Im sure you can get it to work well enough. Laser Sharp swimbait hooks are pretty cheap and available, Ive used them and they have done well for me. Aught to be able to find some at the ol walmart for a few bucks. NGaHB Quote
