Aluma-Bass Posted April 10, 2012 Posted April 10, 2012 I love my Dobyns 765CB Glass for crankin! Quote
Rob G. Posted April 10, 2012 Posted April 10, 2012 There are a lot of really great cranking rods out there. The BassPro Crankin Stick is a great value and would serve you well. I have one and use it as much as I use a Falcon Cara cranking rod that I have. I suggest a medium action for most applications and I prefer 6'6" to 7' personally. Quote
stkbassn Posted April 10, 2012 Posted April 10, 2012 what rod do you use for crankin med depth crainkbaits?? Powell has a new Diesel cranking rod for $70 bucks....Probably be exactly what you're looking for. In that price range you won't find anything close to a Powell. JMHO of course. Tackle Warehouse is carrying these rods. Quote
Super User smalljaw67 Posted April 10, 2012 Super User Posted April 10, 2012 You want a medium power, moderate to moderate fast action for mid depth cranks which in my book is anything less than 10'. Most crankbaits in that range are usually 1/4oz to 1/2oz and my recommendation would be the Falcon BuCoo, the biggest reason is it is light and has a great action. The Powell Diesel would be ok but it is glass and would weigh considerably more, some like the action of glass others like myself like the light weight and feel of graphite cranking rods. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted April 11, 2012 Super User Posted April 11, 2012 Avid AVC70MM is a fine rod, but you might like this even better:http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/93975-pinnacle-optimus-xlt-dhc5-701camcb/page__hl__pinnacle%20review Quote
outdoorsman110 Posted April 12, 2012 Posted April 12, 2012 If you like glass rods, those W&M Rick Clunn rods are pretty good with cranks. Quote
gr8outdoorz Posted April 12, 2012 Posted April 12, 2012 I use a 7' MM Carbonlite for shallow and med cranks and love it! Quote
NitroZ9 Posted April 12, 2012 Posted April 12, 2012 Denali Jadewood 7' Med. This is a $90 rod and is a heck of a rod for the money. Quote

Super User tomustang Posted April 12, 2012 Super User Posted April 12, 2012 I can access the link from the Fishing Articles link up top, your link shows shorter links in RW's post Quote
ChiCityBasser Posted April 12, 2012 Posted April 12, 2012 You might want to give the Cabelas Prodigy PDC705-1 a look as its a MH/MF rod and can handle cranks from 1/4oz to 1 oz. and can handle lines from 10-17#'s. I have one but haven't put it through its paces yet as I also have a Kistler Mag/TS CRR rod. Quote
