Big O Tires Angler Posted November 3, 2009 Posted November 3, 2009 Purple or green pumpkin Yamamoto single tail super grub. Or Paca Craw Quote
Super User RoLo Posted November 3, 2009 Super User Posted November 3, 2009 In the winter, the zoom big critter craw works very well because it's not overactive but flaps gently at the midriff when hopped along the bottom. As the water warms though, I like more active craws like the berkley chigger craw and paca craw. Though we've caught a horde of bass on paca craws, I really don't enjoy fishing them because the claws flop around like the flippers on a dead turtle. Fast becoming our favorite plastic craw is the Strike King Rage Lobster. Here you've got a plastic trailer with a hefty profile and a tight reliable pulsation at low speeds. It's a real winner as a standalone target on an unskirted jig like the Owner Sled Head. Roger Quote
Super User Gone_Phishin Posted November 3, 2009 Super User Posted November 3, 2009 paca chunk all the way! Yup! And at $1.99 a pack at TW, you can't go wrong. They have a TON of great colors as well. Quote
twisted_metal Posted November 3, 2009 Posted November 3, 2009 Depends if I'm up in the cover or open water. flip'n it dosent seem to matter as much- clear water green pumpkin, dingy water black/blue any chunk or craw to match size of jig. Open water with a football jig I'd say my best ever is a 5" twin tail yamamoto hula grub. Quote
slider head Posted November 3, 2009 Posted November 3, 2009 Paca Chunk all the way....all the time for me. Quote
A.Parris Posted November 8, 2009 Posted November 8, 2009 Baby paca craw. I have tried every trailer on the market and this is it. Quote
Bigs Posted November 8, 2009 Posted November 8, 2009 for swimmin jigs I love Rage Tails and for flippin and pitchin the flappin hogs are hard to beat. I also use the pacas alot too. Just dedends on how youre fishin the jig and where. So many variables, there is no one best. Plus the body of water has alot to do with it. Quote
Seeded Pro Casey Posted November 10, 2009 Posted November 10, 2009 My BEST jig trailer i use is a ZOOM Speed-Craw. I throw it on a 3/4oz jig because it really slows down the fall. I LOVE to flip it into milfoil or hydrilla. Quote
llPa1nll Posted November 12, 2009 Posted November 12, 2009 Uncle Josh #11, Super chunk, GYCB Dbl tail grub Quote
Primus Posted November 12, 2009 Posted November 12, 2009 I don't think their is a best jig trailer for all situations, I will vary my trailers depending on the type of look and action that I'm seeking out of the jig. I've done well with the Poor Boys Craw Daddy which is a craw imitator that gives the jig a realistic profile and when I'm not looking for a lot of action out of the jig, this attribute allows it to fall a little faster as well. As others have mentioned you can't go wrong with the Paca Chunk or a Yamamoto Twin tail if you want to add a lot of action to your jig. On a swim jig I like to go with a Yamamoto 5" single tail Super Grub, this has been a great producer impaling this on a 1/4 oz Outkast swim jig and swimming it through lily pad stems and shallow grass in the spring. When I'm using small compact Kietech jigs I've favored the 2-3/4" Yum Craw Papi, nipping off app 3/16" for a nice compact combo, this has been very productive for me this season. I also like to use Pork tailers on Bear Hair jigs when the water temp is in the 40's. Quote
