plumworm Posted April 8, 2012 Posted April 8, 2012 I'm going over my tackle, getting ready for my trip to Ky. lake next week, I have "senko" type baits from Yamamoto and Kinami. I know that Kinami is owned by Gary Yamamoto's son. They seem to feel the same. Kinami baits are packaged with 7 to a bag and senkos are packaged 10 to a bag. What's up. Is this just a tool to sell more "senkos" fewer in a package at a lower price? Less quality? Just wondering. Quote
kLuo Posted April 8, 2012 Posted April 8, 2012 This topic has been debated over and over again. I believe the final conclusion was that they are the exact same bait. Just packaged in different quantities so prices are different. Quote
MyKeyBe Posted April 8, 2012 Posted April 8, 2012 Exact same. Different package, different count, different price. Exact same lure. Quote
Super User Wayne P. Posted April 8, 2012 Super User Posted April 8, 2012 Gary sells them in packs of ten and his son sells them in packs of 7. That is it. It's called marketing to the ignorant. You get the same bait at a cheaper price, BUT most don't pay attention to the bait count in the package. Quote
Rangerphil Posted April 8, 2012 Posted April 8, 2012 Wow I am surprised to see that. I always thought the kinami was nowhere the same feel or texture of the Yamamoto. Maybe it is in my head but I would much rather use the Yamamoto brand. Quote

According to bass pro prices you can get the kinami baits for $.71 per worm and the Yamamoto baits for $.82 per worm. So if all else being the same why would you pay more bottom line for a Yamamoto bait? Quote
Super User Fishes in trees Posted April 8, 2012 Super User Posted April 8, 2012 Where I buy most of my Yamamoto/Kinami products, there are different color options. A few colors are only available in Kinami and most of the others are available only in Yamamoto. Go figure. Quote

NBR Posted April 9, 2012 Posted April 9, 2012 Same molds, same materiial different packaging. i.e Mercury and Mariner, Johnson and Evenrude. Quote
Super User Raul Posted April 9, 2012 Super User Posted April 9, 2012 Exact same plastic formula, not the same molds ( kinami has the wave shape on the eggsack ), different color palette, most of kinamis colors are Kinami exclusive, less baits per package, almost the same price per unit. Quote

I gave several packs of Flash away, but of the opened packs I still own, none have the wave on the eggsack. All of mine are at least a few years old, though. Quote
