Dawson Posted April 8, 2012 Posted April 8, 2012 I just picked up an Abu Garcia Veritas 7'6" MH rod, and man so far I am impressed! Super super light and sensitive.. and I like the microguides. If it holds up, this may be my new favorite... and for 100 bucks, can't beat it! Quote
Super User NorcalBassin Posted April 8, 2012 Super User Posted April 8, 2012 Glad you love the new rod... didn't realize that the microguides came in that length. I have been pleased with the 6'9" ML spinning rod and may end up picking up a MH casting rod as well. Quote
Michael DiNardo Posted April 8, 2012 Posted April 8, 2012 Everytime I am in a fishing store I pick one up and like them more and more. I am going to have to try one out. I have been wondering about the micro guides too. Mike Quote
Super User Hi Salenity Posted April 8, 2012 Super User Posted April 8, 2012 I also have the 7'6'' (no micros). It's very sensitive! Quote
Super User tomustang Posted April 8, 2012 Super User Posted April 8, 2012 I'm curious, do the veritas have the same action as the vendettas fast action, it's a bit underrated and feel more like a extra fast Quote
Sherlock 60 Posted April 9, 2012 Posted April 9, 2012 I bought three Veritas rods at the Indy Boat Show this winter for $55 each...everybody seemed to have them on sale. I've only been able to use them twice so far, but they are a huge upgrade from the BPS Bionic Blade rods I've used for years. Thinking about getting the Veritas Winch rods down the road to replace my BPS Crankin' Sticks. Quote
Scorcher214 Posted April 9, 2012 Posted April 9, 2012 I love them as well, I also have two mojos that I bought this year, going to see how they fare against each other. Quote
bassinKS Posted April 9, 2012 Posted April 9, 2012 i have a 6'6" med casting rod that i love but ever since i got my dobyns it has taken a back seat Quote
Super User tomustang Posted April 9, 2012 Super User Posted April 9, 2012 I love them as well, I also have two mojos that I bought this year, going to see how they fare against each other. That's not even a fair fight Quote
Stasher1 Posted April 9, 2012 Posted April 9, 2012 That's not even a fair fight I'm not even a fan of the Veritas and I have to agree with this. The Mojos, to me, are tip heavy and generally not well-balanced rods. I've owned a couple and handled a bunch, but they just don't feel (or perform) as well as they look. I think they're out-classed by rods costing $20-$30 less, like the Vendetta. Quote
BigMoneyGrip Posted April 9, 2012 Posted April 9, 2012 I agree with Stasher. I have a Mojo and a Veritas. The Mojo doesn't come close. Don't get me wrong, I like my Mojo, but the Veritas feels a good bit lighter and better balanced. Quote
mmoritz11 Posted April 9, 2012 Posted April 9, 2012 i just bought a 7ft med and 7'6 MH veritas and i fell in love instantly! awesome rods!! gotta love the micro guides Quote
Zoff Posted April 9, 2012 Posted April 9, 2012 I broke my Verdict yesterday. Picked up a 7-6 MH Veritas today. Will put it in the water Friday. I have been real happy with my Verdicts and Vendettas. Veritas is in the middle of these. We'll see. Quote
ChrisAW Posted April 9, 2012 Posted April 9, 2012 I like my Veritas, but I don't care for the micro guides they used for the new ones. The first one or two guides are raised off the blank, and aren't reinforced. They look like tiny spinning rod guides, and they didn't need to do this IMO. I fear that I would end up breaking one of those guides off. Buuuut.. I may take the chance, because they do feel very nice. Quote
tstone Posted April 9, 2012 Posted April 9, 2012 I agree with Stasher. I have a Mojo and a Veritas. The Mojo doesn't come close. Don't get me wrong, I like my Mojo, but the Veritas feels a good bit lighter and better balanced. I agree 100% Quote
Zoff Posted April 25, 2012 Posted April 25, 2012 Anybody have any idea what the turnaround time is for them to replace a rod? Quote
zachb34 Posted April 25, 2012 Posted April 25, 2012 Anybody have any idea what the turnaround time is for them to replace a rod? about two to three weeks for me in florida Quote
Zoff Posted April 25, 2012 Posted April 25, 2012 about two to three weeks for me in florida Cool! Not bad. Quote
0119 Posted April 25, 2012 Posted April 25, 2012 I have a 6'6" casting rod. Love the light feel in med hvy. But the decals rub off with my fingernail. Its the only split grip rod ive found comfortable. Quote
Diggy Posted April 25, 2012 Posted April 25, 2012 I love mine. I make sure to keep it squeaky clean. The foam on the handle is a bit easy to damage for some reason. I got a treble caught in the foam on accident and felt worse than when Rocky watched Apollo die after that Ivan Drago beating. I will buy another one day Quote
0119 Posted April 25, 2012 Posted April 25, 2012 True about the foam. Mine has gotten burnished from just laying across the benches of the jonboat. Sort of a shined spot that got flatter. My buddy uses one in spinning model. He has a hard time keeping the reelseats nut tight and once his reel fell off the rod. He religiously checks and tightens it between every few casts. Quote

Scorcher214 Posted April 26, 2012 Posted April 26, 2012 I have two, one in 6'6MH spinning and one in a 7'MH casting. love em. Being a shore angler they get put through a lot of abuse, sticking them into branches and into the dirt a lot. Guides dont't get bent or broken and no rod snapping. I also have closed the guides in the door near the front of the door, where plastic comes together and the plastic actually has a dent in it from the guides. Guides were fine. =) Quote
SausageFingers Posted April 26, 2012 Posted April 26, 2012 He has a hard time keeping the reelseats nut tight and once his reel fell off the rod. He religiously checks and tightens it between every few casts. A little electrical tape over the feet of the reel usually fixes this problem. Quote
