GRiver Posted November 6, 2009 Posted November 6, 2009 Hey everyone I was at Walmart yesterday, a lot of their fishing stuff was on sale, they had a close-out rack. Mann's Baby 1-minus lures were $2.50(not many color selection) and Bill Lewis' Rattle traps were $2.96(a lot of different colors). They had a bunch of other stuff as well. Don't know if it is just this Walmart or due to the season, or what. Just though I'd pass it along. Might want to stock up on a few things. G Quote
RandySBreth Posted November 6, 2009 Posted November 6, 2009 Lots of 'Wally World" stores clearance fishing stuff this time of year - a good time to stock up if they have some good deals. Quote
tholmes Posted November 6, 2009 Posted November 6, 2009 I just picked up some Strike King red-eye shad lipless cranks for $2.50 ea. They only had six, so I bought 'em all. I always hunt the clearance sales at the discount stores this time of year. There are bargains to be had, for sure. Tom Quote
JigMe Posted November 6, 2009 Posted November 6, 2009 I picked up few 3600 plastic tackle box at walmart, they were on sale for $2.99. Quote
GRiver Posted November 6, 2009 Author Posted November 6, 2009 I stocked on a few things too, mostly crank baits. last year they were selll out of gulp bait..sinking minnows and shakey head worms for $2.50 a pack..in pumpkin and green too. I got to budget fish too. Quote
dinkman Posted November 7, 2009 Posted November 7, 2009 i need to start shopping at your walmart, the one down here is close to saltwater and i have a hard time finding anything useful in the fishing aisle here. i doubt the ppl in this one would even know where the rat-l-traps were if i ask them, they might point me to the baby aisle. Tucson Posted November 7, 2009 Posted November 7, 2009 Our local Walmart has pretty minimal fishing stuff, maybe because we live in the desert. Not enough selection to even bother looking. But I still do of course. Quote

Wallyworld here usually has very little in the way of closeouts that are worth diddly :'( Quote
Steven Ladner Posted November 7, 2009 Posted November 7, 2009 Our Wal-Mart doesn't usually put many things on clearance. Well not for fishing, they do put their hunting gear cheap at the end of the season though. Quote
Super User grimlin Posted November 7, 2009 Super User Posted November 7, 2009 Walmart ain't worth going to here for fishing items.Meijers is where it's at here. Quote
Quitlimpin Posted November 7, 2009 Posted November 7, 2009 I freakin killed wal mart towards the end of summer. Stocked up on rage craws & dd22's at a massive discount. Quote
Stasher1 Posted November 8, 2009 Posted November 8, 2009 That's really the only reason I go to WM. I check the clearance section, and if there's nothing good, I leave. In the past several months I've picked up: 10 Strike King Red Eye Special spinnerbaits @ $.90 each 15 Mann's Classic spinnerbaits @ $1 each 4 Strike King Premier Plus spinnerbaits @ $2 each 6 Strike King Premier Pro Model spinnerbaits @ $1 each 6 pks Bass Magic swimbaits @ $.50 each 6 Strike King Red Eye Shad in Chrome/Black @ $.50 each 8 Stanley Wedge spinnerbaits @ $1 each 3 Norman Fat Boy crankbaits @ $1 each several Mann's Baby 1- @ $.50 - $1 2 Shimano Sonora 2500FB @ $15 each 1 Mitchell 308Xe @ $15 2 spools PowerPro 20# @ $4 each That's just what I can remember without going down to the shop and opening boxes. ;D I've also found a bunch of lures and misc. stuff on clearance at the local Targets and Kmarts, like Plano 3600 series boxes for $1 each and Rapala cranks for $1.24 Quote

Especially for powerpro at that price. 8-) Quote
Stasher1 Posted November 8, 2009 Posted November 8, 2009 I would have cleaned that place out. Especially for powerpro at that price. 8-) I did. They only had the two spools of 20# and a spool of something lighter, like 10# or something. When this stuff goes into the clearance area, there's rarely more than a half-dozen or so. If it's something that I'm fairly sure I'll use, I buy them all. However, if it's something that I may or may not use, or something that I don't use on a regular basis, I'll buy a couple and leave the rest for someone else. I don't buy it to resell, and see no reason to stock up on things I'm not going to use. Quote

I know a guy who buys tons of close-outs and clearance stuff at the Bass Pro Outlet Store (just up the road from me in Springfield, by the flagship store) and re-sells the stuff on Ebay - at close to the retail price, of course. Makes a killing. I barely have enough time to fish let alone run a side biz like that. Quote
