bama_bassin Posted April 6, 2012 Posted April 6, 2012 I have a farm pond I am fishing in the morning. We just a Had a cold front come thru and it's going down to 50 tonight. I want to be up early and on the lake early before sunrise. Curious to what some of your thoughts are on the best lure choice. This lake has good grass on the banks, but also pretty think with algae. The fish are in there.....no doubt. I caught a 5 plus on Wednesday out of the grass. I have never caught a fish there on a frog....in the grass....crazy stuff. Only on swim jigs, worms, lizards, senkos, and flukes. Quote
bwell Posted April 7, 2012 Posted April 7, 2012 I would give a buzzbait a shot, they will still hit topwater with the cooler water. I caught a 5lb 11oz bass on a buzzbait at 6:30 in the morning with air temps in the low 40's... If thats not working for ya work the swim jigs and regular jigs in the grass.. Quote
bama_bassin Posted April 7, 2012 Author Posted April 7, 2012 Good idea. Might have to give it a try. Quote
LuckyHandsINC. Posted April 7, 2012 Posted April 7, 2012 I would be throwing a zoom fluke. Without a doubt it has been my most productive morning bait. Quote
Super User deep Posted April 7, 2012 Super User Posted April 7, 2012 Had a cold front come thru and it's going down to 50 tonight. I *** you. The air temp was down to 32 here last night. I was planning to go fishing early morning today, and then scratched it. Quote
bama_bassin Posted April 7, 2012 Author Posted April 7, 2012 Zoom fluke it was. They weren't as aggressive as usual, must have been the little cold snap we had here. Only caught 7, but missed two good ones and 3 others. Did something different today. I have been using mono as my fluke line and haven't been missing many fish.... Really none that I can recall. This morning I tried braid. The only reason was I thought it would help me stay in top of the water more than the mono. I think it does do that, but I think the extra stretch with the mono was helping my hook up ratio. It could have just been a bad morning.. Cause the fish weren't as aggressive as usual. I'll try the braid again and see if it was the slower bite or me just being to quick on the trigger. Y'all have a good Easter now and celebrate the resurrection of our Lord and Savior. God bless and thx for all the comments. 1 Quote
