nmv Posted July 20, 2012 Posted July 20, 2012 Went down to Freeses Pond last night and threw a Zoom Horny Toad. They were hitting it much better and I ended up with two 2lbers and another of unknown weight that got off. A couple walking by said they live on the pond and have caught one just under 5 lbs there. Anything over 3.5 lbs would be a PB for me so I'll keep trying there. At one point I was standing right next to the culvert and wasn't paying attention and a big beaver scared the crap out of me when he came out and noticed me he slapped the water and took off. I jumped but it was kinda neat seeing him that close. I thought I was going to be able to go out on the canoe this weekend, but it looks like I'll be stuck at home entertaining the wife's friends now so good luck to everyone else who ends up out there. Yea I hate that. I fish late till 8:30 or so when it starts to get dark and I'm right on the shoreline in little walk down spots along my pond. The noises I hear freak me out. I had goundhogs/rats/something small running around me as I was fishing /going back to the car. I startle easy haha Quote
Nashua Nev Posted July 21, 2012 Posted July 21, 2012 Those beavers have scared the hell out of me a few times. My scariest time was in my waders at Stumpfield off the canoe launch area early last year. i was pretty far out and just happened to turn around and there was a bear walking around by my truck. In my mind i was trying to figure out if i could out swim a bear , and what the 2 guys fishing in the boat about 100 yards away were gonna do when i tried to climb in their boat with a bear behind me. Quote
nmv Posted July 21, 2012 Posted July 21, 2012 Oh man, I have no idea what I would have done. I have been lucky enough not to run into any bears before. It must have scary as hell at the time, but its kind of a funny story now. Quote
Super User Shane J Posted July 21, 2012 Super User Posted July 21, 2012 Ok, guys, I need a little help. I need detailed directions on how to get to the launch at Clement Pond (Lake JoSylvia) in Contoocook. Fishing there tomorrow, and nothing makes sense. Please help if you can. Thanks! Quote
Nashua Nev Posted July 21, 2012 Posted July 21, 2012 http://www.hopkinton...ation/guide.pdf page 12 May i suggest coming down and fishing the salad bowl at Mill Pond in Nashua.. -- just kidding--- i have been back a couple times with my jon boat but still have not pulled out anything lmb bigger than 2 1/2 lbs, other than a few big 2 foot pickerel. I believe there are bigger ones but i have not found them. it is so convient for me being only 5 minutes away and 5 minutes from work. i can literally be in the water fishing in 15 minutes from work or home. same goes for the Nashua river where i have put a lot of time this year. both at the stellos ramp as well as millyard launch Quote

It is tricky to get to though. Quote
Super User Shane J Posted July 23, 2012 Super User Posted July 23, 2012 Very tough to get to, and yes, we were on fish all day, playing with the new Rage baits for 15 hours. Nothing over 4lbs, most were 2's. Quote

llPa1nll Posted July 23, 2012 Posted July 23, 2012 What the hell? Is that even legal to have that many stripers? Well there were 3 people on the boat I'm guessing this was in Mass., so they can each legally keep 2 fish over 28". Its a shame better measures need to be taken to preserve that resource. The numbers are in a free-fall and have been for a long time. Quote

Same here, there should be a law that banning the keeping of all Bass. If anyone wants to keep and eat fish try trout fishing, they arr stocked for that reason. Also Perch, Calico's and white Perch are very good eating. Quote
unhbass37 Posted July 25, 2012 Author Posted July 25, 2012 Anyone every fish Gorham pond in Dunbarton? I am going to be in that area tomorrow and was going to give it a shot. Quote
nhbassin Posted July 25, 2012 Posted July 25, 2012 Anyone every fish Gorham pond in Dunbarton? I am going to be in that area tomorrow and was going to give it a shot. I have fished it before, but I personally prefer Long Pond in Dunbarton, which is only a mile or 2 away from Gorham pond. There are TONS of large baitfish in Long Pond and it gets fairly deep, so I feel it has what is necessary to hold some big largemouth. If you do try there instead of Gorham, look at google maps ahead of time because the boat ramp on Long Pond Road is hard to find and you have to go up a road that looks like a large dirt driveway. nhbassin13 Posted July 25, 2012 Posted July 25, 2012 unhbass37 on the facebook page bass fishing in nh there are multiple pics of bass caught both in long pond and gorham pond ranging from 2-6 lbs if that helps. Quote
