Shane:

Thank you for the input on Rage Craws.   I have been using a smaller hook.  The 5/0  hooks that I own look like they would not be usable with a rage craw.  They seem too long, almost like the hook would be longer than the body of the craw.  But I will give it a try.  I have been using a 1/4 oz. weight, rather than 3/8, so I will try upsizing.

But otherwise, I am doing what you are saying.  It isn't working.  I will fish this way for 30 minutes or so with no activity, when I have marked some fish with the Humminbird.  I will switch over to a drop shot with a gulp minnow, maybe 12 inches above the weight, or a wacky rigged senko and right away catch a couple of smaller fish.  So I know they are down there, but they are not biting the rage craw.  I have been hoping to attract the larger fish with this bait.  Sick of catching bass less than a pound.  Anyway, no luck at all with the Rage Craw.  Maybe my retrieve approaches are just not right.  I have tried fishing this lure over some rocks in shallow water, so I can see how the lure moves and try to make it look realistic.

People on this site will say to forget about senkos or drop shot, because they are "idiot" techniques, and you don't learn how to catch fish with the "real" presentation until you work with them. But every time I try this I get skunked.  When I go back to senkos or drop shot, at least I catch something.  But no size.

This happened two years ago, when I made a concerted effort to work with the Rage Smokin Rooster on a keel weighted swimbait hook.  I caught fish on my first two casts with the lure.  Then I have gone two years without a single hit on the the bait.  I don't know why, but I just don't get bit on any of the Rage product line.

I will keep trying.  Maybe I am missing something.  Anyway, thank you for the help.  You are a fantastic fisherman, and you are generous with your advice.  We all owe you a debt for the help you offer to us.

Shane showed me 2 years ago my now favorite way to rig the craw. I use a 1/4 oz tungsten bullet weight right above a tex rigged craw, he pegs the weight, I do not. I throw that thing in weeds and brush, pull, jerk and drag it thru, if there's a fish in there, you will get it's attention.

Got this pig hahaha and 5 others this size from mill pond. Haven't seen any big ones. Does anyone know if there is a high mortality rate here?

If your talking Nashua, its over fished for years now and they might use weed killers in there.

Yeah exact pond. Too bad as it is one exit away for me. Thanks for the heads up

They are there, way to the right were it goes out to the canal.  there are some deep spots there. Shane called it a big salad bowl.  Not a ton of structure but there is some.  The far side as well as where it flows in.  There are also 2 other outlets that flow into little streams.  Fish these areas also. The weeds crap is major. We have atleast a 1/2 dozen 4 lber out of there this year. and some misses of bigger stuff. All of them at the bigging of the year.  There is a 26 inch+ pickerel in there too. It does not get the pressure it did a few years ago probably because of the weed , here are some big ones there.  keep looking you will find them.  It is a tough place to fish with all that ****,  but they are there.  They have done some weed pulling last year with a big orange machine, but i do not believe they used any chemicals. I asked this when they were doing the iver above the falls that feed mill pond , which feeds the canal that runs thru nashua and dumps back into the river under what is now clocktower place. If you have a canoe or kayak you can fish the complete canal.  it is about 3 miles long. Put in at mill pond and follow it all the way to clocktower where it goes under the road and the building. There are some nice fish in the canal too.   You will find some parts of the canal very dirty and littered with trash , but it was completly passable from one end to the other. Use a second vehicle and pull out in the Pine st extension area. Bring a buddy when you a a few hours to burn.   And dont lose hope on Mill Pond. I fyou look back about a year you will find some pics i posted of some decent fish.

Did LeeMills on Winni today, what a wacky day of fishing, to many fronts coming in scattered the fish everywhere. Manage to catch over a dozen for the three of us but nothing over 15 inches. Just had to throw a lot.

Last year I pulled one decent bass and a big pickerel from there but have just gotten baby bass. I have kayaked the whole canal to the brick building before the end fence. I'll deff try to keep up the pressure on mill pond! Anything that works specifically well bait wise. All my babies hit 5" senko natural colors wacky rigged. Thanks for the info, you are a wealth of knowledge!

Devil Doc ,  have you fished the water at Bayridge off exit 1?   The big pond all the way back. One of these days i am gonna drop my kayak in there, i just have not found the time.

Knowledge wise , i am just passing on my experiences. what has worked for me as well as where and what i have caught.  A lot of this info comes from this bassresource website.  I am still learning and have a long way to go.  I dont have much experience with rigging wacky. This year i have been using a lot of rage-tail stuff. but i dont fish it only the way it was designed.  I find the rage craw and rage lobster incredibly versatile.  I fish the rage toad a lot too. Rage chunks i use as trailers on my spinner baits.  I fish a lot of poppers and spooks also.

Was out and using the rage craws t rigged and got a nice 4-5 lber but I had it out of the water too long to remove someone else's hook they left in the gill plate an then removing mine which he inhaled. So no pix as I was worried that he wasn't going to make it. But to make a long story short when they hit those rage craws they hit em hard! Gotta deff stock up!

Hey everyone its been awhile. I have a quick question about fishing the White Mountains is it fly fishing only up there? like in the streams and rivers or can I use my light spinning gear with live trout worms? looking for some answers fast cause I will probably be going up there tomorrow.

Hi Mike, you might want to check and print this digest out for information on where to fish. There are only a few places in the Whites that have FF only so you should be good. For rivers and streams: http://www.eregulations.com/newhampshire/fishing/freshwater/rivers-streams-with-special-rules/

Nice, Shane! You are a bucketmouth machine! I had no luck again with rage craws last wekend, but I caught some nice fish, including the 4 pounder in my new profile photo, flipping smoke colored 7" senkos (the big cigar sized ones) into heavy weed cover. Fish seem to be moving back shallow now. Those big stick baits are not for numbers but they attract big fish and they seem to make the fish mad. The hits are harder and more violent than with any other bait I have fished. I used heavy braid and 6/0 owner twistlock hooks to pull em out of the cover. I need to get a push pole to get deeper into that cover.
