unhbass37 Posted April 8, 2013 Author Posted April 8, 2013 today april 7  7:30 am  whire ragetail craw , weightless , weedless  40ish degree water  no 4 lbers today  only 5's    Nev where did you catch the 5 pounder? Be honest now. LOL. Quote
nhbassin Posted April 8, 2013 Posted April 8, 2013 Good work Nev! Thats awesome. Â Me and clr9933 carried our jon boat out to beaver meadow pond on Concord yesterday and ended up getting a few nice largemouth. His largest was 3-4 and my largest was 2-12. Despite trying lipless crankbaits, rage craws, and jigs with trailers, we ended up getting all the bass on spinnerbaits. Not what I would expect for water in the high 30's, but it was great to get my first bass of 2013. 2 Quote
unhbass37 Posted April 8, 2013 Author Posted April 8, 2013 Looks like I'm going to have to get out there. Gonna be 60ish tomorrow. In the process of getting another inflatable for the small ponds. Nev have you fished Mill pond lately? Quote

KlubbaT Posted April 8, 2013 Posted April 8, 2013 Got my 1st fishing in for 2013 yesterday. Went over to Exeter River fishing for trout. Caught a rainbow trout on my second cast. Ended up catching 4 trout total (2 Rainbows and 2 Browns) and my buddy caught 3. Must have just been stocked. Will be going for bass when it warms up a little more. Great start to the season. 1 Quote
Super User Shane J Posted April 8, 2013 Super User Posted April 8, 2013 That's cool, Klubba. Stay on 'em! 1 Quote

Ive always wanted to fish for trout never really new how I feel its like a big buzz up here in NH in the spring what would you need to get started in it??? Quote
KlubbaT Posted April 8, 2013 Posted April 8, 2013 Ive always wanted to fish for trout never really new how I feel its like a big buzz up here in NH in the spring what would you need to get started in it??? Depends how much you want to get into it. I have a rod and tackle box set up for bass and another rod and tackle box set up for trout. If you use a spinning rod for bass, all you really need are some smaller lures like in line spinners and that will get you started. I prefer using an ultra light rod for trout fishing though. I have my trout reel spooled with 4# Floro. Catching freshly stocked trout with a medium action rod is just to easy and takes away the fun for me. And if you catch a 4+ # native trout in a river on an ultra light rod, the adrenaline will rush and you should have a good fight in store. 1 Quote
HeavyDluxe Posted April 9, 2013 Posted April 9, 2013 Ive always wanted to fish for trout never really new how I feel its like a big buzz up here in NH in the spring what would you need to get started in it??? Â I went trout fishing for the first time(s) in my life last year... Â It's *very* different than any fishing I have done before and a ton of fun. Â The rainbow in my profile pic was my first 'bow and an absolute thrill. Â I agree with Klubba's post... You can use just about anything, but you'll have the most fun with a UL spinning combo and light line (2-4lb test). Â So far, I've used two main 'rigs' for catching trout: Very small in-line spinners or cranks cast across pools and reeled across at a quick pace... Small aberdeen or baitholder hooks (size 6 and smaller) with bits of worm and a split-shot sinker somewhere between 8 and 10 inches above the hook. Â Cast the worm and sinker above a pool and allow the current to wash it back into the still water naturally. If you get into this, you're guaranteed to see some of the prettiest waters you can imagine. Â I find fishing incredibly peaceful, but there is a strange kinda invigoration that comes from fishing around a river as it's riffles and runs fill your ears. Â EDIT: Â I should add that getting into fly fishing, 'matching the hatch', and all that is sure to make trouting even more fun. Â But the last thing I need is another addiction. 1 Quote

nhbassin Posted April 9, 2013 Posted April 9, 2013 I have been told that there are no bass in Clough now. There used to be and it hurt the trout fishery, so they "reclaimed" it by getting rid of all the fish in the lake, then restocking it with trout. The other trout pond you are thinking of has bass in it though. Nashua Nev Posted April 9, 2013 Posted April 9, 2013 right now i would say bring a few of these... next week might be different ...   The river has been good to me, My 6 lb 1 oz LM and one of my 4 lb 1 oz SM come from the Nashua river.    Quote
Super User Shane J Posted April 9, 2013 Super User Posted April 9, 2013 I've never fished the Nashua, but it's on my list. I know a guy that caught an 8 1/2 outta there. Quote
Nashua Nev Posted April 9, 2013 Posted April 9, 2013 There are some big girls in the 2 rivers. I believe the record SM and LM are both in the Nashua river. Just have to find em.   I know you (Shane) have your idea of where the record LM is, I think there is one in the river also. And i agree the river is and can be tough to fish , lots and lots of water and area. I put in a lot of time at the Nashua end of the river. It is so convient for me.  Wed i think i am going to hit the river at the exit 17 bridge in Concord. unhbass37 Posted April 9, 2013 Author Posted April 9, 2013 I know and honesty your one of the few that does well there. I have known guys fish it that are semi pro and don't like it. Nice to see you do well there. Quote
NEjitterbugger Posted April 9, 2013 Posted April 9, 2013 One of my dad's friends from work said he caught a salmon in the nashua while bass fishing... Got there from the merrimack im assuming... Have you ever heard of, or ran into a salmon in the nashua?  I have also heard of some absolute pigs coming from the Nashua... The biggest I have seen evidence for was a 6.5lbs LMB and a 4lbs SMB, some guy showed me the pics on his phone when I was fishing the Nashua. Only caught 1 small one, planning on giving it a few more tries though...  ~Finally feeling really nice outside!!!! Quote
Nashua Nev Posted April 9, 2013 Posted April 9, 2013 Salmon are definatly in the Merrimack , and they do connect Quote
