YungAngler Posted May 1, 2015 Posted May 1, 2015 Be up in Northwood this weekend gonna fish Northwood lake the first 2 days then might head over to jeness pond on the third day. Hoping to get on them gonna be a warm weekend I fished Jenness quite a bit last summer. It's a great little pond for canoers and kayakers. Caught a bunch of decent fish there, many in the 3-4 lb range. I love that place. Little hidden gem for sure. je1946 Posted May 1, 2015 Posted May 1, 2015 Is there any place in Southern NH I can get a new rod tip put on? Pretty simple to do yourself. Heat up the old one and pull gently, should come right out, if it's broken off just put the flame to it and burn it out, then put a little epoxy or you can use quick set gel and put it on, or you can get new tips at almost any gd sports shop. If your uncomfortable doing it call Joe at granite state rod/reel he'll do it for you. 603 880-6031 does quality work on reels and rods highly recommended. JoyoftheCatch Posted May 1, 2015 Posted May 1, 2015 I have a tournament on Massebesic tomorrow. Â Im glad the weather is going to be nice, hopefully it'll warm up just enough for the fish to have an appetite. Quote
mebisho Posted May 1, 2015 Posted May 1, 2015 Thanks for the help, I need a larger diameter tip since I broke a couple of inches off one rod Quote

Nashua Nev Posted May 4, 2015 Posted May 4, 2015 water all weekend was 54 - 56 here in the Nashua area.  Pickerel were very active,  Bass not so much yet for me. Quote
Super User Shane J Posted May 4, 2015 Super User Posted May 4, 2015 My biggest for the weekend, and the year so far, a 6-14. My buddy got a 5-4, also. Â 6 Quote
MilfordNHBasser Posted May 4, 2015 Posted May 4, 2015 Top water popper hit today! Had about 5 or 6 more swipes at my popper but they all missed until this girl came along. Shallow pocket on this lake, and I saw beds too which surprised me. Maybe this was a bedding bass. Can anyone estimate the weight of this one? Quote
jaystraw Posted May 4, 2015 Posted May 4, 2015 Nice fish everyone! I went out to Highland Lake yesterday. Water was 56-58 and there were not many fish cruising the shallows. Caught a half dozen decent fish, all coming on a square bill in bluegill, mostly smallies. My buddy also caught a few on a creature bait, all LMB. I would say that fish is 2.5-3lbs Quote

bobh64 Posted May 4, 2015 Posted May 4, 2015 I got the 5 inch version of the daddymack trout the one thing I had to get used to is the cadence needed to get the wobble action. it wanted a faster action then what I felt comfortable with. so there was a lot of halts to give it a dying fish feel it worked enough to get 3 LM. Quote
bass anytime Posted May 4, 2015 Posted May 4, 2015 I fished Horn pond for the first time today. It has a great ramp and looks like a beautiful place to fish, but I sure couldn't get them to bite today. Tried pointer 78 and 100 in many colors including perch, golden shiner, brook and rainbow trout. Square bill cranks and some creature type soft baits, spinner baits and even a mac daddy 5 inch shiner. Water temp 56-58 1 Quote

Coming out of that cove on your left where it gets wide there's scattered large rocks 6ft deep  we caught about a dozen there. There are 3 humps that bass were hanging around Two at the top part of the lake and one just as you finally get into the wide part of the pond coming from the canal. don't forget to cast around that tree that was in the water across the ramp. But don't worry summer's coming and will change again and everything will be opposite. Lots of trout running around yesterday. 1 Quote

I did go up to the north end a little but the east end of the island got very shallow and I gave up on it. I spent most of my time going down the west side, coves and the area going towards the ramp. I fished Arron River Reservoir in Wampatuck State park from 10:00 to 3:00 and couldn't buy a strike no matter what I threw in the water. Â Surface temps here were also in the high 50s. Â I wonder if the 30+ degree temperature swing shut them off. Quote
Mainebass1984 Posted May 5, 2015 Posted May 5, 2015  I was lucky enough to have yesterday off so naturally I went fishing. This coming weekend I have to work. So decided to take my mom out fishing with me as way to make up for not being able to see her for mothers day. We got a late start to the day. It was very warm in the 70s and maybe even the low 80s. It was mostly sunny with a southwest wind 5- 10 with gusts to 15 mph. The water temperature in the shallows was surprisingly warm, at one point I saw 60 degrees. The plan was to fish flooded trees. After we launched it took over an hour to get to our first spot. It sure was worth the long haul. Second cast resulted in a 4-8 largemouth on my jig. Over the next two or three hours the fishing was unbelievable. Both my mom and I were catching some very large bass. She was catching them using a rubber worm and I was using a jig. It ended up being one of the best days I have had weight wise. We were not able to stay the rest of the day. My mom can only fish for about 4 or 5 hours at a time. Regardless it was an absolutely amazing day. The 5 biggest bass weighed in at 29 lbs 15 oz. the fish bass limit was made up of a 6-9, 5-10, 5-7, a 4-8 with a 7-13 lunker. I lost another big fish I would guess to be atleast 6 lbs. We ended up catching 23 bass between the two of us. It was am amazing day. Big bass are biting.  7-13  6-9 5 Quote
bobh64 Posted May 5, 2015 Posted May 5, 2015 Just off Great East not the hog day MaineBass had but a decent catch the biggest being just under 4lbs only 7 today including 2 smallmouths in the river.   What worked 3/8 once black jig with pumpkin green rage tail. Daddymack rainbow trout, smoke with pepper tube jig, suspending shallow shadow rap silver/black jig till a big boy pickerel decided to keep it  for himself.  started at 10 and was off the lake by 2 the wind was picking up big time 20+ and I hadn't charged my trolling batteries since I started fishing 2 weeks ago. Main lake temp was 51 but the river area I was fishing hit 61 so I expect spawning next full moon, Hope to get out to Winni next week. 1 Quote

OneShotOneKill Posted May 6, 2015 Posted May 6, 2015 Couldn't decide where to go this morning, decided on Lake Massasecum. I've only fished in in the middle of the summer so i wasn't sure what to expect...with the wind and fishing while standing up in a canoe i would have been happy with just catching a few..ended up having a great day catching about 20 fish between 2-3.5 lbs. didn't get anything huge but had a lot of fun. ended up with a 4lb pickerel absolutely hammering my SPRO bbz-1 Most fish came on a jerkbait or a crankbait, both natural colors. all of them were primarily on a big grass flat right next to deeper water. 3 Quote
