Phauren Posted April 25, 2015 Posted April 25, 2015 Hit up a secret pond that some friends of friends of some people i know have been putting fish in for years. No one thought they would take but I saw a monster bass spawning and was pretty impressed. I couldn't get it to bite anything i threw but its a good sign. Quote

It is illegal to transport game fish in New Hampshire and in most states for the matter. It is also illegal to release a fish into any water body other than the body of water which it was caught from. If NH Fish and Game witnessed any unauthorized stocking there would be a hefty fine and possible loss of license. Not to mention the effects that an introduced game fish has on a ponds ecosystem.   I went fishing yesterday and the fishing was pretty good. Once I get the pics from my camera I will post more about yesterday. 1 Quote

mebisho Posted April 26, 2015 Posted April 26, 2015 Finally got my first bass of the season. Nice little chunk of about 1.5 pounds. I'll take it. Water temps sent down from last Sunday. I also broke a rod tip and snarled up a bait caster but good. 1 Quote
MikeOGNR Posted April 26, 2015 Posted April 26, 2015 http://m.trackerboats.com/#boats_scr_detail?boat=3654 We'll boys my hardwork and working non stop for 3 months has finally payed off. Put a down payment down on this bad boy and got my credit score high enough to finance it. I am now a bass boat owner. Can't wait to start using this guy up at Northwood and other places. Not the biggest and fanciest boat but it's all I need. 5 Quote

bobh64 Posted April 27, 2015 Posted April 27, 2015 Tried to get a early start fishing this morning but my truck died on the road after getting it fixed (bad battery) at 3pm I was able to put a hour on Great East and caught 6 bad boys all on stick baits water was 48 but the wind started whipping from the east so had to end early. Nashua Nev Posted April 27, 2015 Posted April 27, 2015 did some adjusting to the new solo 32 lb canoe today,  moved the the anchor cleats to fit me a little better , slid the rod holders over a bit , added a cup holder , and raised the platform 2 inches to give me a bit more leg stretching room, and raised the seat 1 inch.  Also pulled apart the trolling motor , replaced the switch and added a longer and heavier cable (no voltage drop)so it will reach the battery in the front of the canoe. Stripped down with no motor , battery or anchors still weighs just under 37 lbs.  I should be able to carry it easier than the yaks i had last year that weighed closer to 50lbs.   This Old Town Pack 12 is way more comfortable than the yaks.  and it is stable enough to stand in.  Going to get myself a 6 ft paddle to make it a bit easier when standing.      3 Quote
clr9933 Posted April 27, 2015 Posted April 27, 2015  I made a trip home to NH this past weekend (from VT) and fished Saturday and Sunday from shore. It was one of the best weekends of fishing I have ever had. I was throwing a small jig with rage craw trailer and a spinner bait both days, and had nearly constant action. The Spinner bait bites were vicious, and made catching two pounders tons of fun, but I was lucky enough to get into some early season big ones that were even better. I caught a 3lber on the jig, and a few casts later caught a 5lb 8ozer on it. Both came off hardwood. The fish in the picture here is one I caught Sunday, and weighed 5lb 15oz. This one hit at the end of a long cast with a spinner bait. I didn't catch a fish like this last year, so it feels great to get two 5+lbers early on. I hope this gets your bass adrenaline pumping! And hope everyones gettin' lucky on the water! 4 Quote

bass anytime Posted April 27, 2015 Posted April 27, 2015 Fished for a couple of hours Sunday afternoon on Tuxbury Pond. Fished with my brother in law, out of his boat. Access from the river to the pond limits the size of boat you can put in. The pond is extremely weedy, the water is high but only has a small channel that is relatively weed free. Caught a 2 lb bass and a bunch of pickerel on a pointer 78, tried jigs and soft plastics with no luck. Planning on fishing Great East on Wednesday. 1 Quote

Fished for a hour sunday at great east best bet hit the river at the top of the lake. when you enter it throw some jigs in the hole before the beaver hut then head north find the channel that runs through the area and throw 4-5 inch black/silver stick baits tapping them every 30 second or so. The temp was 48 when I was there if it hits 50 don't be afraid to throw some baits tight against the shores also. 1 Quote

MainelyBASS Posted April 28, 2015 Posted April 28, 2015 Fished our first Trail Tournament this past weekend in Maine on Lake Arrowhead. After giving up a 10 fish bag of 31lbs the week before, Arrowhead was a little less forgiving in the big fish department. 25 boats fished the event with only 2 fish coming in over 4lbs. Lunker was 6.2lbs and a first time tournament fisherman brought in a 4.1lb largemouth to the scale. 1st place was 14 and change, 2nd place was 12 and change, and 3rd place was 10lbs even I believe. Although we caught 9.1lbs it was only good enough for 6th place. Sadly enough we culled 5 times to get 9.1lbs. Most boats struggled to put a limit together and 3rd place only had 4 fish, but a 4lb anchor. My routine for pre-fishing is to never fish the day before the event, so naturally I fished the lake Weds and Thurs before and caught 5 fish over 4lbs, but nothing over 5.2. As usual, those fish were not there come game time so we struggled to find a big bite, or even an above average bite as a 3lb fish would have put us just about in 2nd place. We thought for sure that we were gonna get blown out by the rest of the field, but with only a handful of anglers left to weigh in we were in 4th place with 9.1lbs and that shocked me. Not shocking was the team that weighed in last with 14lbs, seems as though every person that weighs in last has the biggest bag. No shocker considering the lake, square bills in the grass and jigs around wood caught all of our fish. Better luck next time for us. 5 Quote
Mainebass1984 Posted April 28, 2015 Posted April 28, 2015 This past sunday I went to one of my favorite lakes. The wind again was pretty strong out of the northwest 5-15 mph with gusts over 20. It was a bit warmer then Saturday with a forecast daytime high 52. It was mostly cloudy. I launched at around 11 oclock. The water temperature was a chilly 44 degrees. There was a couple early soring spots I had in mind but they were an hour long ride with my trolling motor. IN the past both of these spots had been great to me so I decided to fish those to spots almost exclusively for the day. After an hour long ride I arrived at my spot and anchored. The water was very high. I had an assortment of lures tied on, a crankbait, jig, silver buddy, a chatterbait and a suspending jerkbait. I had been fishing for about 10 minutes when I had my first bite on a jig. It was very very subtle. I could tell it was a bigger fish and it was strong. Once I got it to the boat the net was just out of reach. I decided to lip it and first fish of the day in the boat was a short fat 6 lb 6 oz largemouth.    I was pretty excited to get that first fish in the boat and the fact that it was a lunker had me pumped for the rest of the day. On the next cast I got another hit with my jig and it was nice smallie weighing in at 4 lbs 1 oz.    Over the next hour and a half I boated another 3 fish including a 3 lb 0 oz smallie on a jig. The other to fish were both smallies around 2 lbs or so that hit a silver buddy. With 5 bass in the boat I decided to go to my next spot which of course was about an hour away. This spot was not protected form the wind at all and the wind was blowing hard. There were rollers coming every few minutes. I was anchored to make fishing possible. With the strong wind and waves there were waves landing IN my boat. It was worth it though. My first cast at this spot got slammed. Once I got it netted I realized it was a bit bigger then I had thought. It was a long skinny fish. It weighed in at 6 lbs 12 oz. Didn't get the best picture but I think I did decent with huge waves, wind and taking it myself.    A couple casts later I landed a 3lb 2 oz largemouth. I fished this spot for an hour or so and caught 3 more fish but non bigger than 3 lbs. I decided to go back to the first spot I fished. After another long troll I was back at the spot and anchored. I fished for an hour with not a single bite. I went and fished one more spot before calling it a day. I landed two more smallies about 2 1/4 lbs. By the time I left the water temperature had reached 46 degrees. For the amount I fished the fishing was pretty good. Landed 12 bass for the day, 7 smallmouth and 5 largemouth. Biggest five fish weighed in at 23 lbs 5 oz. 8 Quote

bass anytime Posted April 29, 2015 Posted April 29, 2015 Fished Great East today for a few hours. Had a tough day, lost a good size bass at the boat and all others were pickerel or yellow  perch. Tried jerk baits, stick baits, jigs, spinner baits all fish were caught on jerk baits. I know I did not let the lures sit for 30 seconds very often ( its just so long to wait ). Water temp in the main lake was 43-44 degrees and in the river 51-52 degrees. 2 Quote
