bobh64 Posted April 15, 2015 Posted April 15, 2015 Just watched a video my buddy (dennis), of him and his friend using his ranger as a Ice breaker through 2-3 inches of ice to get where they needed to fish. I'm not that crazy yet. I believe it could be Pow Wow it was filmed. Quote

Phauren Posted April 16, 2015 Posted April 16, 2015 I just fished my secret spot up in the northwood area yesterday. Its pretty clear and the fish are hungry.......I mean every 3 casts I was landing 1-3 pounders. I think now that I am back in NH for the next 6 months I am finally going to find the state record I know is hiding in that wretched. Quote

bwillis Posted April 16, 2015 Posted April 16, 2015 Sounds like it was a winterkill due to oxygen depletion. I heard back from Fish and Game and they were aware of it and said that it was oxygen depletion 1 Quote

mebisho Posted April 16, 2015 Posted April 16, 2015 I'm 0 for 2015, but was never a patient cold water angler. I did see a rather large fish which may have been a carp. No matter what, it was impressive. Water temps up to 54 Quote
Nashua Nev Posted April 16, 2015 Posted April 16, 2015 Mike.---- some pics of how i did my 2 canoes. One is a 17ft old town 95lb tank 2 seater. The other is my new 33lb old town pack 12 solo seater. They are set up almost the same. I will be changing the set up on the old one to be more like the new one. I am 8 small largemouth and 6 pickerel into 2015. Nothing bigger than 2 lbs. All on the bottom. Weightless white and dark craws and creatures. Painfully slow. All in the Nashua river. Early mornings.           3 rod holders , raised up a little bit for a little more leg room , bolt and nut drilled thru with wingnut to hold monitor , i used a shelf bracket to mount the transducer on.  a 5/16 3 inch bolt thru the side rail hold the transducer as a pivot. wing nut allows me to tighten it up when down or up and it stays in place for me but pivots it hits something.  it works for me.  i hve the same basic set up on my 17 footer. -- i use a sealed cell 12 volt small battery to run my humminbird , when i do not have the big battery and trolling motor. the new canoe at 33lbs is for light weight portability to get to some remote water. it actually weights 15 lbs less than my yaks did , is just as stable , but gives me more room and options. I can use the trolling motor on it or just paddle it. I have a hefty wheel set i made out of a 4x4 and 20 inch bicycle wheels for the big one. i can load it full for 2 people complete with 50 lb battery and trolling motor. , I also made a lightweight wheel set for the new one to carry the very simple basics.  it also shows a 10 lb weight for the anchor.  when i need to be light weight to travel i do not use those anchors. I carry 2 small mesh bags i fill with a few rocks after i get where i need to go.   I have anchors front and rear. Quote

Nashua Nev Posted April 17, 2015 Posted April 17, 2015 wheels and 4x4 come from the Nashua dump.    i tried a 2x4 but it flexed too much when loaded down when used with the red tank. probably 200 lbs+ canoe 95lbs , battery 55lbs , troller 20 lbs , anchors , gear , beer etc....   the old yak with the wheels for traveling. this is the heavy set.   the tank with the wheels ,  i try to balance so their is almost no tough weight. this is the heavy anchor 17 inch brake rotor.  zero dragging.      right now this is set up for a solo.   i wheeled thru the parking lot and down the road to fish silver lake in hollis.   axles are pulled out on the wheels and replaced with 10 inch lag bolts. the cut out in the middle is for the keel to sit in. Quote
Phauren Posted April 17, 2015 Posted April 17, 2015 Mike I might have time this sunday if you are free and wanna land some pigs. If not this weekend I will be around for sure since I am moving back to northwood end of the month. I will message you my number. Quote
JoyoftheCatch Posted April 17, 2015 Posted April 17, 2015 Im hitting up Naticook tomorrow for a few hours. Â A friend of mine went there the other day and caught 25 bass in about two hours. Â Im hoping I'll have his kinda day. 1 Quote
MikeOGNR Posted April 17, 2015 Posted April 17, 2015 Went out to a spot in Northwood. Didn't catch much it was only my second time there so I'm stilling learning the spot. And with the cold water the bite isn't quite on yet. Figured any pond or lake best option would be to fish the deepest structure you can find or even the deepest parts. Love using my new rods though hopefully I'll get one tomorrow Quote
Phauren Posted April 18, 2015 Posted April 18, 2015 If you are at the spot I told you about try trolling a big heavy spinner bait about 15-20 feet from shore. Quote
Nashua Nev Posted April 18, 2015 Posted April 18, 2015 Naticook should have some bigger fish this year. last yer was lots of 2lbers the yr before lots of small ones. should be some good size to some this year,  it is definitely on the rebound.   Horseshoe in Merrimack seems to be in a slump.  Quote
JoyoftheCatch Posted April 18, 2015 Posted April 18, 2015 Im hoping so. Â Naticook is always a fun lake to fish, and bigger fish will only make it better. Quote
bobh64 Posted April 18, 2015 Posted April 18, 2015 Currently on swains second cast a smallmouth on the new deep diving shadow rap currently a bakers dozen banging rocks and such with square bill slowly 4 Quote
JoyoftheCatch Posted April 18, 2015 Posted April 18, 2015 Went to Naticook for a few hours this morning. Caught seven small largemouth, biggest being 13 inches. Â All were caught on a red lipless crank bait. Â As I was packing up, I ended up meeting a fellow BR member, Mebisho. Quote
