I've been up in Northwood working for about a week now and the lake should be Ice out by the end of this week, but I come home tomorrow and plan on getting some fishing in during the week. Those are the two places I mainly fish near me. Quote

mebisho Posted April 12, 2015 Posted April 12, 2015 Horseshoe in Merrimack is 48 degrees. Slow fishing. Any tips on what lures to use when the temps are this low? I tried jig, stick baits, small swim bait. Any input is appreciated Quote

I tried jig, stick baits, small swim bait. Any input is appreciated Jig with rage craw trailer. SLOW is the name of the game. I'd be fishing the deep drops on the opposite side of the boat ramp. Fish will slowly move up into the shallows, but will stay close to that deep water. Fish that jig slow almost painful to fish, but it pays off big. If you want even more of a slower presentation try a Uncle Josh pork frog as a trailer or even a zoom chunk the fish may be finicky to the rage craw. Either way Jig all the way. Quote
Nashua Nev Posted April 13, 2015 Posted April 13, 2015 I agree with that for sure. I wouldalso add weightless craw or lizard. Painfully slow. Anywhere you can find some dropoffs Or stickups. Also in the bright sun early fish from the Shadow to the warm spots. You might catch them sunning and warming. Quote
Basshaggs Posted April 13, 2015 Posted April 13, 2015 Basshags ... what is that link? Its todays Satellite shot. Quote

Nashua Nev Posted April 13, 2015 Posted April 13, 2015 selling/sold both my Kayaks and my jon boat. Just listed my jon boat trailer. Just picked up my new solo 33lb Old Town Pack12. 17lbs lighter than my kayaks were. More room more comfortable and standable for fishing. I used it yesterday for the first time. Can also put my troller motor on it if i needed to but its for light ,quick, easy. Will be setting it up similiar to my 16 ft 25 yr old 3 person, old town heavyweight canoe. at 33lbs i can carry it almost anywhere. including front and rear anchors when wanted and my hummingbird 698. i also now have a 16 ft deep v-hull on a trailer with a 25 hp motor. complete flat deck. its old but it works. 1 Quote

MilfordNHBasser Posted April 13, 2015 Posted April 13, 2015 I fished the Nashua river and Mill Pond for around 3 hours yesterday... The water is still so cold but today in the 70's should warm it up nicely... We also headed over the New Wilton Reservoir and my friends dad actually landed a fat little pickerel... I was just happy to see a fish yesterday and wet my line! Things should start picking up in the next few weeks! Good luck everyone! Quote
MilfordNHBasser Posted April 13, 2015 Posted April 13, 2015 Here's a nice underwater shot of a pickerel taken on a GoPro Hero3+. Also is my favorite bait casting set up! 1 Quote

MikeOGNR Posted April 13, 2015 Posted April 13, 2015 Thinking of doing Jenness pond Sat, anyone know how the ice is doing there? the last i heard it was moving out at a fast pace. Saw it when I was up in Northwood on Saturday. Pretty good I would say it should be all gone by the end of this week. The ice was going away fast when I was there so I would only assume. I'm going up that way Thursday so I'll check it out for yea. 1 Quote
Nashua Nev Posted April 14, 2015 Posted April 14, 2015 The 16 ft deep hull with the 25 hp is not for sale. Its going to get used a lot. Quote
MilfordNHBasser Posted April 14, 2015 Posted April 14, 2015 Anyone going out today know water temps? How fast can we expect the temp to rise with this warm weather? Quote
MikeOGNR Posted April 14, 2015 Posted April 14, 2015 I'll be out on my secret hot spot today up near Northwood. Hopefully all the ice has moved out. Quote
bass anytime Posted April 14, 2015 Posted April 14, 2015 Finally got the boat in the water today for a couple of hours. No wind at home, but white caps on the water. Only caught one fish, but for the first of the year I'll take a 4 1/2 pounder! The surface water temp ranged from 50 to 55 degrees depending on location. 2 Quote
AlecFish Posted April 14, 2015 Posted April 14, 2015 Up here in the Lakes region winni still has quite a bit of ice and all the small lakes/ponds are loaded with ice. I'm hoping the weather stays as warm as it has been the past couple days so I can get out there! Quote
bwillis Posted April 15, 2015 Posted April 15, 2015 I swung by Horseshoe Pond in Concord on Monday. The ice was all gone, but there was a big fish kill. Few hundred sunfish, couple dozen bass to include several 3-4 pounders. Hopefully it doesn't affect the fishing there this year. Quote
MikeOGNR Posted April 15, 2015 Posted April 15, 2015 Gonna go try Scobie Pond today in Francestown. Will be my first excursion out wish me luck guys hopefully bring in a hog. Quote

Mainebass1984 Posted April 15, 2015 Posted April 15, 2015 did you report this to fish and game? i hope it was not pollution or disease... Sounds like it was a winterkill due to oxygen depletion. 1 Quote
