This may interest people who are fishing the Maine Bass Trail and the Northeast Bassmasters opens, I talked to Wayne Hooper yesterday and if the ice does not thaw out on Mousam in time for the open he will ask the state to swap permits to have Arrowhead trail tournament fished on April 19th and Mousam open on April 26 I will keep you all posted.

I know some of you fish Quabbin. 10 days to opening day and it still covered in ice. My brother lives near here and we scoped out moct of it. It's going to be awhile there too

I don' know if any of you look at google maps in satellite view but they have recently changes the photo's of the lakes to ice free pictures so now you can see creek channels and hidden rock points better on most of our lakes. I have found some hidden gems already on a few I have fished.

Hey guys! I'm depressed that we have no good open water yet so I decided to start doing some summer fishing trip planning. I'm going to be staying on Squam Lake (Big) June 6-10. It looks like a great smallie lake, as well as trout and salmon.

If anyone has any info they would like to share, I would appreciate it. Thanks!

I drove all around Arrowhead Saturday and the only spot that didn't have open water was the boat launch on New Dam Rd. But it wont take long for it to open up by the boat launch with all of the current over there.

I checked out Horseshoe Pond in Merrimack and wouldn't you know that my car is parked at the ramp and I'm in the canoe fishing. Working the pads with a jig, I'm sure

Thanks Bob.  I picked up a map of all the lakes around here a few years ago at Northern Bass Supply.  I'm really looking forward to it.

Not Pine Island Pond in Manchester right?  I must be confused with another Pine Island.

Hey guys,

I am thinking about fishing a tournament on May 2nd on Massabesic. I have always heard that the fishing on this lake is pretty tough, but any of you guys have good luck on it? I won't have time to pre fish it because I am in school until the first of may.  I would assume the fish would start to move up, but with the weather we are having the fishing could be unpredictable.  Do you have any advice on the lake or what you would be throwing? I will be fishing as a co angler so my options are somewhat limited.

Thanks

Drove to Swains and Bellamy reservoir they are both opening up and the ice is starting to grey and slush up not long now with the temps perking upwards now.

Bobh64   have you fished the Bellamy Reservoir ?  What is allowed to be used for boat and motor on the Bellamy ?   I have a 17 ft tracker with 70 hp and bow mount electric motor. Can I use my boat with the outboard but not run it and just use the electric ?   Clarks fishing guide says no outboard allowed.

No gas motors only hand held boats and such there is only a dirt path ramp with a dirt parking lot off the road.  the city of Portsmouth owns the whole watershed for their drinking water. beyond that it is a excellent water way for fishing essentially a flooded river so lot of flats to fish. there have been many bass in the 8lb range caught there. I used to fish it with my canoe about 15 years ago but haven't been to it since.

Hey guys how can I get to behind Stellos Stadium? Can I shore fish there?

Posted

Plenty of shore fishing. Just walk the area. You will find plenty of places to shore fish.. Walk quietly. If you know the ramp area Just go left. You can go all around there. All behind the soccer field. You can walk completely around the Mill pond also. There are some nice fish in there also.

Thanks nev.. I know behind Stellos is all water, I had a lacrosse game there yesterday. I don't remember seeing mill pond though, how does that look??

Mill pond is the one to the right of the rink.  The boat launch is as you turn onto Conway arena near the police station.  You can walk that complete pond.  In the river there are lots of stumps and underwater logs and trees to the left behind the soccer fields.   you will loose some hooks back there, but thats where the fish are.   The water there is still 41 degrees.  once it hits 55+ the fishing will pick up. The fishing has been really slow this year with the weather.  Also if you fishing out in the Stellos area and around the Mill pond, you should bring a buddy (or your dad) with you. There are a few not so nice people that sometimes hang around there.   Better to be safe.  Especially if you are there early before sun up , or late night.   The late night topwater fishing is usually really good once that water hits 60+ degrees.  It gets weeded in pretty good so the fishing gets tougher thru those weeds.

Most everything down here in Southern NH is wide open and fishable.  Water temps this morning were 41ish degrees.  I fished the sunny areas.  Fishing is slow as expected, but if you can find them now and get them to bite, it will make you that much better once the water hits 50+ and they wake up a little more.   Hopefully it will hit 55 degrees water temps soon.  That seems to be a magic # for me.

Do I need so many rods for a day of fishing?

I am thinking I should cull some of these rods but they all have a use. Boat out of hibernation and next off to the car wash to clean the carpets.
